This is going to be a long series of new additions to our rankings to make sure that each young man is highlighted. That being said, there are P5 caliber recruits down to D3/JUCO recruits. The moral of the story, each of these young men did the work and deserved a spot in our rankings. We’re here to highlight their hard work. Without further ado, let’s take a look at Pt. 4 of our New Additions to the 23′ Rankings.
Mr. Hunter can work as a 7 tech and a 1 tech, both of which he can slip blocks and get through to disrupt plays in the backfield. What’s impressive out of this young man is his quickness out of his stance which gives him the edge at the point of attack both in run support and in his pass rush. You can see his stats below, he gets his nose involved in each play on defense. What’s not shown in his stats is his ability to generate pressure on the quarback by collapsing the pocket. This young man can also get it done as an offensive guard too. Overall, be sure to keep an eye on this young man as he has potential to play both positions at the next level.
Mr. Tholen is an offensive center that flashes his ability to wash the defensive line down creating a running lane for his ball carrier. One clip that stands out is the first clip in his highlights where he fires off the ball and drives the defensvie tackle back through the whistle. It’s this type of aggressivness at the point of attack that stands out in this young man’s playstyle and what I’d personally love to see more of. When he’s pulling, he’s used as a lead blocker going through the hole to pick up the 2nd level defender creating a running lane for his halfback. In pass protection, he flashes his ability to anchor to absorb the bull rush as well as mirroring the rushing defender to keep the pocket clean. Overall, this young man has untapped potential yet to come to light and I look forward to seeing how he performs this fall.
Mr. Jeske is an offensive center that gets moving quickly after he snaps the ball and has an aggressive side to him that attacks at the point of attack. This young man flashes his ability to work through the whistle as well as being a good in-line blocker. In pass protection, he can get set to block quickly where he then gets locked out and puts the defender into the dirt at times. Overall, this young man has a high upside to himself as I believe he could very well have a breakout season this fall. Be sure to keep a close eye on this young man.
Mr. Petrow is a quartberack that has the arm strength to add easy velocity across all level throws (level 1, level 2, and level 3) and can put the ball only where his receiver can go up to get it. When he has to work on the move, he can loft it right over the defenders underneath making it easy for his receiver to secure the catch. Let’s not forget this young man’s foot quicks as he can gash the defense up the middle as well as using his lateral quickness to turn the corner when he runs the option. An area that I’m interested to see more out of is his ability to stand strong and get the ball off under pressure with the defender in his face. Overall, keep a close eye on this yong man as he’s primed for a breakout season this fall.
Mr. Durkin can line up both as an H back on the offensive side of the ball. He can catch out of the backfield on underneath routes as well as running misdirection motions for rubs on the 2nd level defenders. In the run game, he’s used as a lead blocke rto create running lanes for his halfback and flashes his ability to wash the defensive lineman down. When doing so, this young man isn’t afraid to take the defender head on and put the defender on his back with his strong initial punch. He’s also quick out of his stance and get get to 2nd level blocks quickly. Overall, this young man can get it done in both offensive attacks and has potential as a linebacker as well.
