The Head coach Geoff Marcone will be leading the team once again in 2022. La Salle Academy is a charter member of the Rhode Island Interscholastic League (RIIL) and competes within its framework, as well as competes against out of state teams.
In 2022 the Rams will return some juniors who saw time last year and are skilled athletes that are worth the price of admission. The La Salle Rams are looking to get back to the state title game after losing last year’s championship game to in state rival “Bishop Hendricken”. La Salle has a talented team that will compete again at the top of Division I.
2021 Season Results: The 2021 Rams finished with a 7-4 record while earning a bid in the state championship game. The offense averaged 35.4 points per game while the defense gave up an average 19.3 points per game. Look for the Rams to continue being an offensive threat once again as the returning skill positions are solid.
Toughest Losses to Graduation: Jacob Gibbons (RB), Teshawn Campbell (OLB) = Univ of Umass (Dartmouth), Dimetri Iafrate (WR) = Reclass-Marianapolis prep, Peter Habchi (TE), Jake Lincourt (DB)
PLAYERS TO WATCH:
Got a chance to watch Lassiter up close this summer at the 2022 New England Bone Camp where I also met him. His overall athleticism displayed fluid movement patterns, loose hips, balance and body control, elusiveness, and foot quickness. Solid recruit who has D1 -D3 offers and will likely pick up more attention after Jr. season. He is a competitor my nature and a gentleman by name. Coaches will like meeting this young fellow. Holds offers from D1 schools including the Ivy league. HUDL: https://www.hudl.com/video/3/13677700/61a168619680fb0ac0ab4405
Highlights
“Denson” is another athlete I was able to evaluate this summer in a live setting. He easily passed the eye test. He carries a lean muscular physique with room to grow and develop. He can play both WR and also DB and being recruited as an athlete. A very athletic recruit holding D1 offers from Univ of Rhode Island and Sacred Heart Univ. Will likely get more attention after Jr. season.
Highlights
Has nice touch on the ball when releasing. He shows great accuracy on film. Makes throws that the receiver can easily pull down. He has the ability to get the ball out quickly and on target and short yardage pass plays. Varrecchione is a D1 prospect who recently committed to Robert Morris Univ while also getting heavy Ivy League interest from Cornell. HUDL: http://www.hudl.com/v/2GWcuf
