This years Boxers team has a good amount of college recruit leaders to get this done. So many, as they are our sleeper team to bring havoc among the top programs within the state who will be competing to get to the Championship Game. The Boxer’s are coached by Head Coach Peter Columbo. Coach Columbo is said to be heading into his last season as the Boxers Head Coach after a long and successful coaching career at Brockton H.S. The longstanding head football coach at Brockton High, Peter Colombo has seen a lot of success roll through Marciano Stadium. To be specific – 125 career wins, five Super Bowl appearances and two consecutive championships in 2004 and 2005. The goal in 2022 is for the Boxers is to get off to a more favorable start in the early-going of the schedule, which is lined with fierce opponents across the Division 1 gauntlet. Brockton’s first two games are on the road – at Barnstable (Sept. 10, 6 p.m.) and at Franklin – before the Boxers return home to matchups with Lincoln-Sudbury and Natick.
Team Overview: Since the Boxer football teams’ inaugural season in 1897, they have achieved 17 undefeated seasons, as well as achieving 15 one-loss seasons. Since 1972, the football team has made 17 appearances in the MIAA Division 1 State Championship game
2021 Season Results: Brockton wrapped up the 2021 regular season winners of three of its last four, including a Thanksgiving (must see) against Bridgewater-Rayhnam which ended with a failed 2-point try that would’ve given the Trojans a narrow lead with seconds to play. The Boxers entered postseason play as the No. 13 seed, suffering a 48-21 loss to a loaded Xaverian squad.
Toughest Losses to Graduation: Jason Wonodi (QB) Norfolk State Univ; Carlos Timas (DB) Milford Prep; Devan Miller (DT); Darren Castor (DB) Norfolk State University; Michael Victor Michael Victor 5'9" | 175 lbs | WR Brockton H.S. | 2023 NewE (WR); Guershan Suffrant (DB) Stonehill College; Demetrius Sequeira Demetrius Sequeira 5'10" | 190 lbs | WR East Coast Prep | 2023 NewE (RB) East Coast Prep;
Players to watch:
Ranked as our # 1 WR in the New England Region and 9th overall in class of 2024, Monteiro brings a lot to the table. In 2021 sophomore season, he compiled 963 total yards and 12 touchdowns. His production got him on D1 college football radars during an after the season. He has earned offers from many D1 FBS schools which will likely grow after his jr year campaign coming. We evaluated him from a WR position and he has a very positive skill set. He has superior hands and catching ability. His play speed and tempo is of D1-FBS caliber. His mental toughness and competitiveness is topnotch. He has the ability to separate easily all while being dependable, and having playmaking ability.
Last year, Osinubi” was at Catholic Memorial. He recently posted he would be returning to his hometown school Brockton Boxer’s program for his 2022 senior season. He is a threat to any defense. He runs great routs that get him open. He knows where the ball is and goes up to go get it. Seems to be a natural at high pointing the ball. Catches with his hands and doesn’t allow the ball to come to him. He goes up and gets it. Osinubi caught two touchdowns in CM’s Super Bowl title win last fall, a 42-18 final over King Philip at Gillette Stadium. He has FBS offers including power 5 teams.
A serious under-the-radar recruit. He has the talent to be at minimum a D1 FCS Defensive lineman. He has great size at 6’5″ 315lbs. He is explosive on his first step coming out of his stance. He shows a good burst to provide a pass rush and get tackles for losses. His lateral quickness is superb. He has the disruption force to command double teams, and eat up a ton of space. He was missed in our initial launch 2023 rankings release but will be included in our final rankings after the fall 2023 season. We are hearing but haven’t confirmed, he has offers from Florida A&M Univ, North Carolina A&T State Univ, Howard Univ, Norfolk state Univ, Morehouse College. Look for additional schools to come onboard during and after his senior season. HUDL: https://www.hudl.com/video/3/13291890/61a6394dff03530b18d9e89f
