I got the chance to check out Wayne State’s elite prospect camp on 6/25, where I saw several very impressive prospects spanning several states. Here are a few of the players that stood out to me. <hr /> <img class="wp-image-374923 alignright" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/redzone/uploads/2022/07/IMG_0973-scaled-e1656656603793.jpg" alt="" width="456" height="333" /> <p style="text-align: center;"><em><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="227020" first="Ayden" last="Barnby"] (2023) - DL</strong></em></p> <p style="text-align: center;"><em><strong>Papillion-La Vista South - NE </strong></em></p> <p style="text-align: center;"><em><strong>6’3" 225 lbs</strong></em></p> Ayden continues to dominate the spring/summer with another great camp performance. Barnby is an impressive prospect that passes the initial eye test and then backs it up with his play. He is like a rocket coming off the snap and can use speed or power rush moves to beat his man. Ayden has great bend coming off the edge and can drop his shoulder low to give linemen as little room to work with as possible. He is very quick for someone his size and has a tireless pursuit to go along with it. A very high-effort, high-intensity player that you can rely on to make a play in the backfield. One of the top defensive linemen at the camp. <em><strong><a href="https://www.hudl.com/profile/12844994/Ayden-Barnby" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hudl</a> | <a href="https://twitter.com/AydenBarnby" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Twitter</a></strong></em> <iframe src="https://www.hudl.com/embed/video/3/12844994/61830a81f31c94044cf0604d" width="640" height="360" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen"></iframe> <img class="wp-image-374921 alignright" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/redzone/uploads/2022/07/IMG_8809-scaled-e1656656175175.jpg" alt="" width="451" height="330" /> <p style="text-align: center;"><em><strong>Brady Luther (2023) - LB</strong></em></p> <p style="text-align: center;"><em><strong>Millard West - NE</strong></em></p> <p style="text-align: center;"><em><strong>6’0" 200 lbs</strong></em></p> Brady is a player that had slipped under my radar up until this camp. He has a strong, sturdy frame for an outside linebacker but also has the agility to change direction and flip his hips. He did a good job getting a low center of gravity and driving up and through his tackles. I thought he performed like one of the more athletic LBs at the camp and showed good reaction time and instincts. I’m excited to see what Brady does on the field this year. Luther could be on the brink of a huge breakout year in 2022. <em><strong><a href="https://www.hudl.com/profile/5432823/Brady-Luther" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hudl</a> | <a href="https://twitter.com/Brady_Luther_" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Twitter</a></strong></em> <iframe src="https://www.hudl.com/embed/video/3/5432823/620092bf8cde6d0a646b63e3" width="640" height="360" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen"></iframe> <img class="wp-image-374903 alignright" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/redzone/uploads/2022/07/IMG_1021-scaled-e1656654558234.jpg" alt="" width="454" height="304" /> <p style="text-align: center;"><em><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="218483" first="Adonis" last="Whitley"] (2023) - WR</strong></em></p> <p style="text-align: center;"><em><strong>Ladue Horton Watkins - MO</strong></em></p> <p style="text-align: center;"><em><strong>5’8" 160 lbs</strong></em></p> Pure speed. In fact, that was what first caught my eye about Adonis, was his speed alone. Whitley was torching players left and right and running past DBs with ease. Add in the fact that he has great footwork and is explosive when changing direction and you have yourself a dangerous wideout. He moves very fluidly in and out of his breaks and can accelerate to track the ball. He displayed good hands to go along with his speed. Although some may be concerned about his size, Whitley makes up for it with how dynamic he is with the ball in his hands. Somebody offer this man!! <em><strong><a href="https://www.hudl.com/profile/12880857/Adonis-Whitley" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hudl</a> | <a href="https://twitter.com/10Adonis10" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Twitter</a></strong></em> <iframe src="https://www.hudl.com/embed/video/3/12880857/6186be3d4205bd07fc8f0c71" width="640" height="360" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen"></iframe> <img class="wp-image-374896 alignright" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/redzone/uploads/2022/07/IMG_0628-scaled-e1656654095938.jpg" alt="" width="455" height="312" /> <p style="text-align: center;"><em><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="226951" first="Kegan" last="Mountain"] (2023) - DB</strong></em></p> <p style="text-align: center;"><em><strong>Millard West - NE </strong></em></p> <p style="text-align: center;"><em><strong>5’11" 170 lbs</strong></em></p> The Millard West Wildcats should feel assured that they have a stud in the secondary like [player_tooltip player_id="226951" first="Kegan" last="Mountain"]. Kegan showed off his physicality all day long and made big plays in all sessions of the camp. Mountain has great overall speed and backpedal speed to stay toe to toe with his receiver. He uses his hands very well and doesn’t shy away from contact at all. One aspect of Kegan’s game that is underrated is his tackling. In run game competition drills, Mountain showed that he uses great leverage and technique when tackling and can lay the wood as well. He ran the fastest 40-yard time with a 4.49 and did exceptionally well in the other drills as well (4.55 pro-agility, 7.5 L-drill, and a 38" vert). Kegan is a great athlete that is highly competitive and will leave it all on the field. Mountain is still awaiting his first offer but with more strong camps performances like he had in Wayne and they should come flying in. Whoever lands this young man is going to get a grinder on the field. <em><strong><a href="https://www.hudl.com/profile/16053997/Kegan-M-Mountain" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hudl</a> | <a href="https://twitter.com/kegan_mountain" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Twitter</a></strong></em> <iframe src="https://www.hudl.com/embed/video/3/16053997/6133e285d468b506c87adc1e" width="640" height="360" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen"></iframe> <img class="wp-image-374918 alignright" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/redzone/uploads/2022/07/IMG_9187-scaled-e1656655371518.jpg" alt="" width="451" height="296" /> <p style="text-align: center;"><em><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="227558" first="Salvatore" last="Nacarelli"] (2023) - OL </strong></em></p> <p style="text-align: center;"><em><strong>Gross Catholic - NE </strong></em></p> <p style="text-align: center;"><em><strong>6’1" 260 lbs</strong></em></p> This was my first good look at Gross Catholic OL Sal Nacarelli and I thought he was exceptional at the Wayne State camp. Sal is a powerful OL prospect with lots of burst and sound footwork. Nacarelli did a really great job keeping his pads low and level with great leverage. He has explosive hips and hands that hit like a truck on first contact. He does a lot of the little things very well like for example, keeping his arms and feet nice and tight. What I really like about Sal is the aggression that he brings on every rep. He battled some of the top DL players at the camp and was able to stonewall a few of them. Salvatore holds an offer from Morningside, but if he can help the Cougar offense excel, he should see that list grow larger. <em><strong><a href="https://www.hudl.com/profile/13113284/Sal-Nacarelli" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hudl</a> | <a href="https://twitter.com/SalvatoreNacar3" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Twitter</a></strong></em> <iframe src="https://www.hudl.com/embed/video/3/13113284/61b63067ab9d750d4c19d688" width="640" height="360" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen"></iframe> <img class="wp-image-374907 alignright" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/redzone/uploads/2022/07/IMG_1121-scaled-e1656654708704.jpg" alt="" width="450" height="276" /> <p style="text-align: center;"><em><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="156658" first="Jake" last="Leonard"] (2024) - TE </strong></em></p> <p style="text-align: center;"><em><strong>Madrid - IA</strong></em></p> <p style="text-align: center;"><em><strong>6’3" 195 lbs</strong></em></p> Jake had himself a day at the Wayne State camp. The junior tight end from Madrid had some of the best hands among all pass-catchers at the camp and was making phenomenal catches all day. He does a great job making catches outside of his body and using his full catch radius to make plays. Some of the biggest impressions left by Jake were when the tight ends were running corner routes in the redzone and he was making great catch after great catch. On top of his length, he does a great job with his feet and ran some crisp routes.  He also showed a lot of physicality during blocking drills which is something you love to have in a tight end. Jake is a tall, athletic, smart pass-catcher with big mitts who’s only going into his junior year... watch out for a breakout season! <em><strong><a href="https://www.hudl.com/profile/14917847/Jake-Leonard" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hudl</a> | <a href="https://twitter.com/jake_leonard11" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Twitter</a></strong></em> <iframe src="https://www.hudl.com/embed/video/3/14917847/617984ed64df3911c4ecff63" width="640" height="360" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen"></iframe> <hr /> <em>Make sure to follow @PrepRedzoneNE on Twitter and Instagram to stay up to date with all your Nebraska prep recruiting news.</em>
