VSN Media Day Brings Out The Best
In this article:
VIERA – On Friday, 24 schools and over 100 athletes and coaches were treated to something special at Viera High School.
Varsity Sports Network, which is quickly becoming a major force in Florida high school sports, hosted yet another Media Day this summer – following up Gainesville, Pensacola, Tallahassee, Polk County and the Suncoast with an impressive event – attended by Space Coast and Treasure Coast teams.
With an eye on Jacksonville, Broward County, Palm Beach County and Miami-Dade County this coming week, this well produced media day was something very special.
“I have to admit that this was one well run media event that went smooth from start to finish,” Melbourne Holy Trinity first year head coach Hurlie Brown said. “To reward these young men and the coaches with a big-time media day is something everyone will remember a lifetime.”
Indeed, this was well run with all interviews being broadcast live on VSN and plenty of photo and media opportunities – just like they do at the collegiate level.
Among the programs on hand included Palm Bay Bayside (Coach Corey Broomfield), Viera, which is coached by Shane Staples, Port St. Lucie Treasure Coast (Coach Irvin Jones), Cocoa (Coach Ryan Schneider), Fort Pierce John Carroll (Coach Mickey Groody) and Titusville Astronaut (Coach Just Worden).
In addition, Palm Bay Heritage (Coach Mark Ainsley), Titusville (John Holmes), Sebastian River (Tyrone Perry), Melbourne (Coach Dave Kintigh) and Eau Gallie (Coach Chris Sands) made their way to Viera.
Jensen Beach (Coach Tim Caffey), Satellite (Coach Brian Helton), Rockledge (Wayne Younger), Fort Pierce Westwood (Coach Chris Kokel), Vero Beach (Lanny Jankowski), Merritt Island, who is coaches by Tyler Murray, Melbourne Holy Trinity (Coach Hurlie Brown), Melbourne Central Catholic (Coach Rich Pruzinsky), Cocoa Space Coast (Coach Clifton Nichols), Port St. Lucie Tradition Prep (Coach Shawn McGrath), Palm Bay (Coach Jake Owens) and Cocoa Beach, who is coached by second year head coach Ben Waldrop.
“I am not sure people realize how much work by a lot of people makes something run as smooth as this event does,” said Dan LaForest of VSN. “So much work goes into doing this thing right. If you are you going to host something this prestigious, you better make sure you make it memorable, and we have done that.”
As Media Day moves to Exploria Stadium in Orlando on Saturday, it’s to create more memories with yet another signature event.”
