It’s the month of July and that means it’s preview time! Throughout the month of July, we are publishing 100 team previews to get you ready for the 2022 season. This is something that began last year and has become even bigger and better this year. We’re looking forward to diving deep into the top teams across the state. From defending champs, to top contenders and dark horses, we’ll have complete coverage every single day with new teams from Class 6A down to A. In this post, we take a look at the Tuttle Tigers. One of the best teams in Class 4A over the last five years, the Tigers are hungry after falling short last season.
Tuttle Tigers (4A Preseason Ranking: #4)
The Tuttle Tigers have been one of the more dominant teams in Class 4A over the last few years and last year was no different as they went 13-1 and made it all the way to the state championship game but that was one to forget for the Tigers. After dominating teams all season, they ran into another perennial power in Clinton and got beaten like a drum to the tune of 35-0. Tuttle had to settle for the silver ball and that loss has surely been used throughout the offseason as motivation for this group of Tuttle Tigers. As they go into this season, they come in at #4 in our preseason rankings and despite the championship loss, there are still plenty of things about this Tuttle team to like and we think they’ll once again be in the mix in Class 4A.
The biggest hurdle for the Tigers going into this season is the district. After the redistricting shuffle, the Tigers will face a few new opponents this season, including three other teams ranked in the preseason top ten. If Tuttle can navigate their way thru the district with wins over #7 Bethany, #8 Blanchard and #9 Newcastle, the Tigers should be set up for another run in the playoffs. With just three starters back on offense and another three starters back on defense, the Tigers will have some new faces stepping up and providing an impact. But Tuttle has a good mix of talented youth and experienced seniors that should provide the Tigers with enough to contend yet again in Class 4A.

. Even though Tuttle had a breakout star in Canon West running the ball last season, McAdoo still got in plenty of games as a freshman and ended up having a solid season. We expect that momentum to help carry him into this year as his role naturally expands within the Tuttle offense. McAdoo is a running back prospect to look out for with the Tigers over the next three seasons.

was one of the linebackers that we got a chance to watch on film and break down his game. We were incredibly impressed that that impression has only continued in a positive way for Tucker. He’s one of the best linebackers in the state’s 2023 class and he’ll lead a Tuttle defense that is ready to punch some people in the mouth after the way last season ended. Look for this defense to be one of the harder hitting units in the state.

. The Tuttle signal caller is incredibly experienced as he goes into his third season as the starter this fall. Dennis will be leading a Tuttle offense that will primarily want to run the football but when he’s asked to throw, he should be ready to make plays with his arm. The Tuttle QB completed over 55 percent of his passes last season and had 17 touchdowns on the year. His senior leadership will help a relatively young team.

. This is a running back that we’ve really liked over the last few seasons as he’s put together strong performances in some of Tuttle’s biggest games. However, the biggest thing that has limited Woodson is untimely injuries. Last year, Woodson missed significant time and during his sophomore year he missed time as well. Woodson is hoping for a clean bill of health throughout the 2022 football season to put together a complete year.

2022 Schedule/Games To Circle
Aug. 26 – AT Cache
Sept. 9 – Noble
Sept. 16 – Guthrie
– Before Tuttle goes into their tough district, they’ll wrap up non-district play in week three against Guthrie at home. This will be a battle between teams ranked #4 in their respective classes with Tuttle in 4A and Guthrie in 5A. The Blue Jays will travel to face the Tigers and they’re in the same boat as Tuttle. They’re in a brutal district in Class 5A where three out of the top four teams in 5A are within that district. So they’ll be looking to take some much needed momentum into district play. Both teams also feature outstanding rushing attacks so this is a game that might not last very long as both teams look to run the ball.
Sept. 23 – AT Bethany
– The first district test comes on the road in week four as the Tigers travel to face Bethany. The Bronchos have been a thorn in the side of the Tigers in recent memory but Tuttle will come into this district clash as the favorite to win. It will certainly be a test as Bethany brings back the majority of their starters from last year’s team and the Tigers will still be relatively young when they square off, only returning a total of six starters. However, Tuttle will need those new starters to start acting like veterans because a win here in week four can set the Tigers up for a district championship run while a loss will have them scrambling.
Sept. 30 – AT Harrah
Oct. 7 – Blanchard
Oct. 13 – AT Bridge Creek
Oct. 21 – Tecumseh
Oct. 28 – AT Newcastle
– One of the final district tests also comes on the road as Tuttle will face off with a familiar foe in Newcastle but it will be new to district play. The Tigers and Racers have squared off in non-district play for several years but now it will be a district clash and they’ll face off in week nine. Tuttle could potentially clench the district championship during this match-up, depending on what happens prior to this game. Plus Newcastle will have this one circled on their calendar after they lost to the Tigers in the first round of the playoffs. It’ll be a contrast of styles as Tuttle wants to run the ball and Newcastle has a 2024 quarterback on the rise.
Nov. 4 – Classen SAS
Notable
We mentioned how the Tigers are one of the more dominant teams in Class 4A over the last several seasons and they have the numbers to back it up. Tuttle has gone a combined 48-5 in the last four seasons with at least ten wins in each year. That also includes an undefeated run to the 2018 state championship game and another championship appearance last season. In fact, no other team in Class 4A has as good of a record as the Tigers during that time span. And as the Tigers go into the 2022 season, they expect to contend for the state championship again, extend that streak of double digit wins and continue to dominate Class 4A like the last several years.
