There are also a few ready for breakout seasons this fall.
Here are a few under the radar QBs in the Atlanta area who should have big seasons in 2022…
Jai’que Hart – Lithia Springs
A dynamic quarterback and one of the leading passers not only in Atlanta last year, but across the 2023 class, Hart is bound for another giant season in 2022. An athletic quarterback with impressive arm strength, Hart threw the ball on defenses on a weekly basis last year, throwing for close to 3,100 yards and 30 touchdowns. He only threw at 57%, so his accuracy can improve some, but make no mistake, he’s a very talented quarterback with a big arm. He throws well on the run, he’s mobile, and he does a good job of letting his receivers make a play on the ball. He loves looking downfield and can put nice touch on the ball in a place where only his man can get it. He threw for about 256 yards per game last year and has a chance to light up the stat sheet once again as a senior.
Another dynamic quarterback south of Atlanta, Brown is a dual-threat quarterback who knows how to throw a beautiful tocuh pass down the field. He has good size at 6-foot-2 185-pounds and is coming off a big season where he threw for 2,750 yards and combined for 24 touchdowns in 10 games last year. He’s one of the better deep-ball passers in the area and does a great job of standing in the pocket and waiting for his receiver to get open. He throws with touch, anticipation, and throws it accurately down the field. He was one of the more accurate passers across the state last year, completing 71% of his passes last year as a junior. He’s mobile in the pocket, can take off when he needs too, and has a strong, live arm. He’s still under the radar, but he has enough talent to play somewhere at the next level.
He may not have lit up the stat sheet last year as a sophomore, but make no mistake, Graham has one of the strongest arms you’ll find in Atlanta and has a chance to really break out as a junior in 2022. He’s physically put together and one of the biggest quarterbacks across the state in 6-foot-7 230-pounds, and he knows how to sling the ball down the field. Leading Cedar Grove to a state championship last year, he had a lot of help with an outstanding running game on offense, but look for him to throw it more as a junior. Last year, he showed lots of promise and took great care of the football, throwing for 17 touchdowns to just 4 INTs. It’s easy to see the potential, and if he continues to develop in practice heading into the season, he has a chance to be one of the very best in the Atlanta area.
Qamar Grant – Pebblebrook
One of the top returning quarterbacks in Cobb County, Grant is a big, physical quarterback with plenty of size at 6-foot-4 240-pounds. He’s a strong runner and tough to bring down, but his big arm is what stands out the most about Grant. He moves well in the pocket for his size and throws a strong ball deep down the field. He can throw on the run and can throw into some tight windows in the middle of the field. He has plenty of fast, explosive weapons to throw too, so it’s easy to see why he put up the numbers he did last year as a junior. The Pebblebrook standout threw for 2,500 yards last year and 30 touchdowns, proving to be one of the most productive quarterbacks in the metro-Atlanta last year. His best game of the season came against an outstanding Parkview team in the playoffs where he threw for 318 yards and 5 touchdowns in a big victory.
