In 2A, there are plenty of pass rushers to know about for the upcoming season. They’re under the radar right now, but they may not be for long. Here are a few 2A pass rushers to know about for the 2022 season…
Kenyon Partridge Kenyon Partridge 6'3" | 230 lbs | DL Columbia | 2023 State GA – Columbia
A game-wrecking EDGe defender out of Decatur, Partidge is a two-way standout with great short-area quickness and get off at 6-foot-3 230-pounds. He’s lightning quick off the edge and knows how to deliver a big hit on the quarterback. He uses his quickness to his advantage against slower tackles, and he’s strong enough to push around smaller opposing linemen and tackles as well. He does a nice job of getting his hands to the ball and knocking it away, sometimes forcing a key turnover. Partridge dominated last fall as a junior, making 75 tackles, 21 TFLs, and 11.5 sacks. He was a true playmaker on defense and there weren’t many tackles on the schedule who could slow him down. He’s one of the top returning EDGE defenders and pass rushers in all of 2A.
Cevan Edwards – South Atlanta
A recent Memphis commitment, it’s easy to see why Edwards is one of the top 2A pass rushers in the state. He’s big and physical at 6-foot-4 260-pounds and dominated over and over again against smaller programs and opposing linemen. He lined up on the interior last fall and was a game-wrecker from the inside. If not double teamed, Edwards did a good job of flying into the backfield and making a big play on the ball-carrier. He played like a man among boys last year, making 8.5 sacks last year with many more TFLs. His physical presence and style of play made him an intimidating defender and one offenses just couldn’t handle throughout the season. Look for him to be one of the top 2A defensive tackles not only in Atlanta, but across the 2A classification next year.
Lincoln Broadnax – Mt. Paran Christian
Don’t let the small-school vibe fool you, Broadnax may play for a smaller 2A private school, but he’s still one of the top defensive linemen in Kennesaw. He was also one of the more productive defensive linemen across Cobb County and in 2A last year, making 43 tackles, 9 TFLs, 8 sacks, and an eye-opening 26 QB hurries. At 6-foot-2 235-pounds, he was too big and imposing for a lot of the offensive linemen he went up against last year, and his natural ability to get after the quarterback made him a nightmare to block last year as a junior. He’s excellent against the run, shutting down the edge to running backs and forcing them back inside. As a pass rusher, he’s quick for his size and can beat tackles both inside and outside. He uses his hands well to get off blocks and can leave a bruise when delivering a blow to the ball-carrier. He played in a smaller classification last year, but should be just as impressive as a senior in 2A this upcoming season.
Quintavious Adolphus – East Laurens
A dynamic, lightning quick defensive lineman with versatility, Adolphus is an impressive defender at 6-foot-1 and 230-pounds. He has insanely quick hands and times the snap really well, allowing him to get into the backfield with ease. He does a good job of knocking the ball away, but he did an even better job of getting after the quarterback. A reliable run defender as well, Adolphus made 7 sacks last year, making him one of the top returning pass rushers in 2A this season. He also made 14 QB hurries on the season, making him a true threat every time the quarterback drops back to pass. He has a good motor and has a natural feel for getting after the ball carrier. He dominated throughout the season and lived in the backfield, making an outstanding 23 TFLs last year as a junior. Look for him to have an even bigger season in 2022.
