South Dakota has a deep defensive line talent pool, so lets look at five who I think are the most talented that are currently in the state.

[player_tooltip player_id='205259' first='Abraham' last='Myers'] - Sioux Falls Washington High School, 6'3" 215lbs, DE

Myers is the highest-ranked DL in South Dakota for a very good reason. With his tall frame, he is very quick and agile for his sheer size. He uses his crafty footwork and hands to blow past lineman to break up plays into the backfield. Myers can work in just about any defensive situation and can do anything that his defense needs him to do. His best area of expertise would easily be on the pass rush, he can make big plays off the edge and he always loves to make the play. While he mainly excels as a pass rusher, he can be used as a great run stopper. Myers can line up in the middle and stuff up the middle to break up run plays. Myers is an overall extremely talented player, which shows why he is a top-ranked prospect in South Dakota.

Myers Highlights

[player_tooltip player_id='223087' first='Reis' last='Kirschenman'] - Tea Area High School, 6'3", DL

Watching Kirschenmann shows you that they are not anything that he struggles at. Reis has a big frame and uses that to use his explosiveness to blow past anyone in his way. He is easily one of the fastest defensive ends in the state and uses that combined with his sheer stopping power. While his edge-rushing ability is great, he seems to be even better at a run stopper. He uses his IQ and his footwork to get into the backfield and break up run plays before they even can start. He can shift in the middle and be a great run stuffer to stop from anyone gaining any ground on him. His hands help move through any offensive players in his way, his swim moves are fun to watch and help him, even more, when rushing. Kirschenman is a complete player and can be put in any role you want him to on the front 4.

Kirschenman Highlights

[player_tooltip player_id='287016' first='Ty' last='Naaktgeboren'] - Sioux Falls Roosevelt High School, 6'4" 217lbs, DL

Naaktgeboren is an elite-level defensive player and someone who you would want heading your D-Line. Naaktgeboren is an elite pass rusher who can blow by any defender with little effort with his swim moves and crafty footwork. He is very explosive off of the edge always managing to find a way to get to the quarterback. Naaktgeboren has put it simply as a turnover machine, causing and recovering forced fumbles like no other, often getting them in for a score. He is also an above-average pass defender for his position, getting his hands up to knock balls down at the line of scrimmage or getting them tipped up into the hair. Naaktgeboren is an anchor for the defense and gives great level of energy to make sure his teammates are always in the zone.

Naaktgeboren Highlights

[player_tooltip player_id='235736' first='Patrick' last='Kastning'] - Elk Point-Jefferson High School, 6'8" 325lbs, DT

Kastning is a big defensive tackle with an even bigger ability to blow through anyone line that is in his way. Kastning's area of strength is most definitely his physical size and just his sheer ability get through any defender that is in his way. It is hard for anyone on the offense to contain Kastning simply for his ability to overpower anyone that gets in his way. He uses is hands to almost it seems throw any defenders that are in his way to get to the quarterback. He also has great ability as a run stuffer to not allow one to get through any gap that the offenese tries to make. With Kastning on the line, it is hard for anyone to get going on the other side of the simply for his ability to stop any and all forms that an offense will try to do.

Kastning Highlights
