I have begun team previews of some of the top teams in the Raleigh/Durham region. There are a lot of talented players throughout the region. The previews will highlight the recruits on the teams featured. A high level of competition is expected as the high school season starts in late August.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="355008" first="Wesley" last="Thompson"] (6'4" 185, QB)</strong> will direct a high-powered offensive unit in the Fall. He finished the season at Ashe County HS with 1,939 passing yards and 16 passing TDs. Wesley's primary target of his passes, <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="44984" first="Chris" last="Culliver"] (6'2" 175, WR)</strong> will be difficult to defend in man-coverage. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="355011" first="Alec" last="Hall"] (6'2" 195, WR) and [player_tooltip player_id="355012" first="Jacob" last="Sigmon"] (5'10" 165, WR)</strong>, both are good route runners who will get their shares of catches.) <strong><span style="font-size: 1rem;">Daniel Spring (6'0" 245, OL), [player_tooltip player_id="355032" first="Jackson" last="Hensley"] (6'4" 220, OL), and [player_tooltip player_id="355033" first="Quinn" last="Rembert"] (6'2" 230, OL) </span></strong><span style="font-size: 1rem;">are all technique-sound offensive linemen who use upper body strength to control defenders while opening lanes for the running backs and protecting the quarterback. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="355028" first="Ben" last="Gibbs"] (5'9" 165, RB)</strong> displayed good footwork and speed to accelerate past defenders in the open field to gain yardage.</span>
<strong>Daniel Spring (6'0" 245, DL) and [player_tooltip player_id="355032" first="Jackson" last="Hensley"] (6'4" 220, DL)</strong> both use their upper body strength and good technique to control blockers and make stops. Daniel and Jackson will anchor the defensive line. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="355011" first="Alec" last="Hall"] (6'2" 195, LB) and [player_tooltip player_id="355033" first="Quinn" last="Rembert"] (6'2" 230, LB)</strong> both run well in the open field and displayed good lateral movement. Alec and Quinn will anchor the second level of defense. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="355028" first="Ben" last="Gibbs"] (5'9" 165, DB) and [player_tooltip player_id="355012" first="Jacob" last="Sigmon"] (5'10" 165, DB)</strong> both are technique-sound defensive backs with good speed in the open field. Ben and Jacob make it difficult for receivers to complete catches. Maiden High School is expected to defend its conference crown and compete for a state crown.
