The middle of July in the state of Arkansas means that team camps are heating up as quickly as the temperatures. We have some impressive performances at camps in Star City, Lonoke, and Greenbrier to pay attention to this afternoon. In tomorrow’s article, we will look at who had strong showings at the Southwest Elite 7-on-7 tournament in Springdale. However, today we are going to look at a few guys lighting it up in team camps around the Natural State this week.
[player_tooltip player_id="178752" first="Hunter" last="Ferrell"]-Quarterback-Bauxite-2023
[player_tooltip player_id="178752" first="Hunter" last="Ferrell"] has looked impressive at every camp this summer and that hard work has extended into the team camps. Ferrell has thrown with accuracy and plenty of touch during the camps this week. He is a dangerous player to account for when he is scrambling out of the pocket. Ferrell has good mobility and an excellent clock that tells him when to escape the pocket. Ferrell will be a player to watch out for this season. He is closing out the offseason in impressive fashion.
[player_tooltip player_id="250021" first="Tony" last="Wilkins"]-Wide Receiver-North Little Rock-2025
The Charging Wildcats are looking to get the ball into the hands of guys that can stretch the field. [player_tooltip player_id="250021" first="Tony" last="Wilkins"] is a prospect that can stretch the field in both the run and the passing attacks. He is a versatile prospect that has come off the dead period in impressive fashion and I would expect a strong season from Wilkins. Throw in the fact that he is a versatile prospect, scouts are going to want to take a long look at the North Little Rock prospect.
[player_tooltip player_id="157331" first="Gavin" last="Dixon"]-Quarterback-Pea Ridge-2024
In Northwest Arkansas, Pea Ridge quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="157331" first="Gavin" last="Dixon"] has looked extremely impressive in team camps. Dixon has displayed nice touch on the deep ball, and he delivers it with accuracy. He is not afraid to step into the pocket and create a passing lane. Dixon is going to be a difficult quarterback for opposing defenses to contain. He knows when to use his legs to pick up yards and the Pea Ridge offense has the potential to be a fun one to watch this season.
Marquez Brentley Jr. -Athlete-Watson Chapel-2024
We have discussed Marquez Brentley Jr. a few times over the past few days. My advice is to watch out for this young man, the Watson Chapel coaching staff do a great job of putting the ball in his hands. He has the speed to take it the distance from anywhere on the field. Whether he is running the ball, throwing the ball, or catching the ball; he is a prospect that the defense must account for. Brentley Jr. had another impressive team this afternoon and looks to be in midseason form.
[player_tooltip player_id="240357" first="David" last="Nwisi"]-Linebacker-Nettleton-2025
Take a look at the Henderson State camp from earlier in the week. Nettleton linebacker [player_tooltip player_id="240357" first="David" last="Nwisi"] went to Arkadelphia and put on a show. Nwisi display that he could rush the passer effectively but also drop back into pass coverage. He uses his speed and explosiveness well to create plenty of problems for opposing offensive linemen. Nwisi is a tough linebacker to account for is going to be a linebacker to watch out for on Friday nights.
