These 7v7 teams featured highly touted prospects to players on the come-up or the brink of a break-out season. I spent most of the time recording video and taking pictures, all while taking mental notes of the action happening before me. I was only in attendance for the first day, so I will only talk about what I saw during pool play.
The next featured team is the returning Class A champions, the Gretna Dragons. The Gretna 7v7 team was headlined by star QB and Oklahoma State-commit Zane Flores Zane Flores 6'3" | 190 lbs | QB Gretna | 2023 State NE . Along with the top-ranked QB in the state, the Dragons also fielded an impressive group of pass-catchers that gave defenses fits all day. I also added a couple of defenders that will be crucial to Gretna’s defensive success.
Tyson Boganowski Tyson Boganowski 5'10" | 170 lbs | WR Gretna | 2023 State NE | 2023 | WR/DB | 5’10″ 175 lbs
- Tyson is a player that has been developing and improving all off-season and it has shown at the last few camps I’ve seen him at.
- Tyson is a super twitchy wideout that does a good job creating separation and tacking extra yards after the catch.
- He can line up anywhere from the slot to the outside receiver and can be sent in motion.
- He can also flip over to defense, where he is a highly effective corner. He made some nice plays on the balls, and I believe he also came up with an interception.
- Boganowski is a very underrated talent in the 2023 cycle. High ceiling player!
Colin Sims Colin Sims 6'1" | 185 lbs | WR Gretna | 2023 State NE | 2023 | WR | 6’1″ 190 lbs
- Sims is a big catch radius receiver that can just go up and get after the ball.
- He is a tall, lengthy wideout that uses his frame and length very well. Sims does a great job extending and using his hops to outjump defenders.
- He can get physical with DBs and was a mismatch against most corners at the tournament.
- Colin is a player that I think will have a bigger role in the Dragon offense in 2022.
Joe Roll Joe Roll 5'10" | 175 lbs | WR Gretna | 2023 State NE | 2023 | WR | 5’10″ 185 lbs
- Dominant deep threat receiver!
- Roll and QB Zane Flores Zane Flores 6'3" | 190 lbs | QB Gretna | 2023 State NE were on a different wavelength than the rest of the field. They connected on several long balls, and Roll would get the nod on last-second, crucial throws.
- Explosive at the snap and when coming out of his break.
- Excellent straight-line speed and can kick it to the next gear to create separation.
- Strong hands receiver too. He can hold on through contact and makes catches away from his body.
Blayke Moore Blayke Moore 6'2" | 200 lbs | DB Gretna | 2023 State NE | 2023 | DB | 6’2″ 205 lbs
- Blayke is rangy, versatile player that can play a safety/linebacker-type role.
- He has a high football IQ mixed with great tangibles and measurables for his position.
- He closes gaps quickly when he diagnoses the play. He is a player you can always find near the football, making plays.
- Very smart communicator!
Ethan Stuhr Ethan Stuhr 6'2" | 200 lbs | LB Gretna | 2023 State NE | 2023 | TE/OLB | 6’2″ 200 lbs
- Ethan is a flat-out football player. He primarily plays outside linebacker for the Dragons but also split some time at tight end last year and took TE reps at the 7v7 tournament.
- Stuhr is a high-motor player that can get after the ball carrier and reacts quickly when the ball is in the air.
- He’s mainly used as a blocking tight end, but he showed the ability to use his big frame to make catches in the middle of the defense.
- Tall, strong, athletic frame that can run through people with his pads on.
