We close out our list of standouts with five more prospects that come from all different fields of the recruiting trail. One is already committed, two are very under the radar when it comes to college programs in our eyes, and one I think is a prospect the Division I level is missing, and the other has some raw skillsets and limited reps and tape that will likely blossom into a solid prospect in 2022.
Who are the prospects we are talking about? Have a look at who we liked from Fargo.
Hunter Corbin | OL | Mandan (ND) | 2024
Hunter was a new prospect to my radar coming out of Mandan, North Dakota back at the NDSU prospect camp. He showed good hand placement and got some solid leverage on the defenders he was going up against from what my eyes caught as the first look on this young man. There is not much tape to evaluate on Hunter, but the tape I was able to find shows fast and effective footwork out of the gates of his stance off the snap which is great to see. Some work on technique going into his junior season should really turn the corner for this young man to hop on the recruiting trail.
Cade Myszewski Cade Myszewski 6'1" | 225 lbs | ATH River Falls | 2023 State WI | DL/FB | River Falls (WI) | 2023
Cade really hit the nail on my eye test for the next level when watching his mobility, in full action in NDSU. He showed some thunderous contact in the trenches and used his excellent hands to win his handful of battles in 1v1s from what I caught in Fargo. When you tap into Cade’s tape you learn about a two-way athlete that has a lot of upside on both sides of the ball. As a 6’1 230 fullback, Cade has a lot of more speed and reactive ability you would imagine for the position as he also fields a tough put together lower body that just absorbs yards after contact. He catches balls out of the backfield and can maneuver with his pad level into the second level and create enormous contact into the linebacking core. From the edge spot, Cade shows great speed coming off the edge and has a wider range with his reach that plays more like a sideline-to-sideline linebacker than a defensive end. He shows a structured contact level when he connects with the ball carrier and the contact he creates from the fullback position has to be some of the best I’ve seen in the NW part of Wisconsin. Certainly a prospect due for his first offer this summer, as the skills are certainly right there on both sides of the ball.
Korver Hupke Korver Hupke 6'2" | 245 lbs | OL Independence | 2023 State IA | OL/DL | Independence (IA) | 2023
Watching Korver come out of his stance certainly showed a lot of pep up at NDSU a couple of weekends back. This young man has some great fluidity in his footwork and glides very smoothly into his contact where he’s able to maneuver his hips to match up sealing off the outside edge and accumulating solid balance within his punching and engagement level. An All-State Guard in 2021, Korver is a ball carrier’s dream when he’s his front of him in the second level. As we said the biggest thing we saw from Korver in Fargo is how fast he comes out of his stance, and that ices well on tape as his 6’3 255 pound body comes out of his stance with deer-like feet and can multi-engage as he’s making that progress into level 2. One key thing on tape I saw from Korver? His ability to assist, as on one particular clip he follows another one of his linemen quick to get him to engage with a key defender and with his fast hand and foot speed, can change directions to engage on his original defender. That’s not something I have really seen on many offensive linemen’ tape, and I thought the college coaches would want to know the reactive instinct Korver has for the next level. Another heavily under-recruited line prospect on this list, as Korver is still waiting for that first offer surprisingly!
Reis Kirschenman Reis Kirschenman 6'4" | 245 lbs | DL Tea Area | 2023 State | DL | Tea Area (SD) | 2023
We have seen Reis quite a bit this summer on the camp circuit, but I thought he made his biggest impact at the NDSU prospect camp from my eyes. First of all, the frame this young man has grown into screams into the D1 level, as he’s grown to 275 pounds this offseason and has not lost a step as far as speed or that big physicality that we really like at Prep Redzone Dakotas. Reis has that ’can’t blink’ mentality when you watch his tape, because if you do, he will pop up the second your eyes open up and he will be right all up in your backfield with his finesse and instinctive steps he took to get there. Reis’s hands are the best part of his tape, in my opinion, as he has the stretch and some of the best aggression in the Dakotas when it comes to leveraging his hands to pull off an offensive lineman and make his waves into the ball carrier and he does it extremely consistent across all of his tape. Also, when he goes up against a premium offensive linemen in 11AA, he does not show any sort of athleticism lost due to just how much physicality and next-level athleticism this young man has. More FCS schools need to get involved with this young man’s recruitment, as the NSIC has put a ton of recruiting chips into Reis.
Jack Liwienski Jack Liwienski 6'3" | 265 lbs | DL Minnetonka | 2023 State MN | OL/DL | Minnetonka (MN) | 2023
Although he made his commitment to NDSU shortly after camp, it was important to me to point out the important skills that Jack Liwienski Jack Liwienski 6'3" | 265 lbs | DL Minnetonka | 2023 State MN showed off at the NDSU prospect camp a few Saturdays ago. First off, the Minnetonka Skippers were elite on both sides of the line, with Aidan Boehle having a great day on the defensive line (see a write-up from Thursday) and Jack Liwienski Jack Liwienski 6'3" | 265 lbs | DL Minnetonka | 2023 State MN did his thing offensively. What skillsets stood out to me about Jack? Against his competition, Jack showed superb hand-level when starting to engage his contact with his defender. I don’t think a prospect hit that pad-level more spot-on than Jack in the reps I got to watch. We know a lot about Jack’s physicality characteristics, as Oliver West and I have scouted Jack a ton over the last couple of years but I would be remiss if he didn’t have a leg up on his competition in that skill set as well in Fargo. He also has a lot of power in his feet, but the gazelle-type tapping in his footwork is a big thing college coaches look for as the smoothness and poise Jack possesses really struck a chord in Fargo. A big congratulations to Jack for committing to the Bison!
