The prospects featured in this article, I believe, are being undervalued from a recruiting perspective. Each kid has flashed a different type of skill set, but all have one thing in common: they’ve produced at the varsity level.
These prospects range from having an FBS offer or two all the way to recruits who have yet to receive a single scholarship at any level. Regardless of whether they have an offer or not, each one of these guys, I believe, should be getting more attention on the recruiting trail. Their projected level may vary from person to person, but each one has talent that I believe deserves to be seen. With that being said, here’s who you need to know!
RB: Kanye Tyler, 6’ 180, Pekin, IL
- Muscles through arm tackles with no change of speed.
- Outstanding vision in tight quarters.
- Never shies away from contact.
- Sure hands out of the backfield.
Edge: Jaylon Price, 6’3″ 205, Ruleville Central, MS
- Terrific bend to easily run the hoop.
- Extremely explosive off the snap.
- A well-trained hand fighter.
QB: Donovan Whitten, 6’3″ 220, Arkadelphia, AR
- Nasty third-level thrower.
- Silly arm talent to challenge safeties.
- Plenty of accuracy off any platform.
- Outstanding production in 2021, throwing for 3,605 yards & 49 total touchdowns.
ATH: Damarion Arrington, 6’2″ 190, Mount Carmel, IL
- Can lineup at any skill position and make an impact.
- Off-the-charts balance and body control.
- A true competitor who dominates on the 50/50 ball.
RB: Cortez LeGrant, 5’10″ 175, Sun Prairie, WI
- Can break a game wide-open as a returner.
- A one-cut runner with solid speed in the tank.
- Rarely brought down by the first tackle attempt.
ATH: Tyson Hancock, 5’10″ 175, Smithville, TX
- A playmaker with the ball in his hands.
- Outstanding contact balance to go with great acceleration.
- A burner with some shake in space.
- Always around the football on the defensive side.
TE: Tracy Stephens, 6’5″ 230, Ridgeview, SC
- Soft hands for a big man.
- Uses his frame as a weapon to box out defenders in the red area.
- Plays with an attitude as a blocker.
DE: Eric Thomas Jr., 6’3″ 230, Starkville, MS
- Can play with his hand in the dirt or as a stand-up edge.
- Creates knockback on gap scheme pullers in the run game.
- Fiery motor for four quarters.
DT: Eriq George, 6’2″ 260, Montgomery Bell, TN
- Generates a ton of force from his lower half all the way up to his hands.
- Rocked up build.
- Low pad level to get skinny through tight gaps.
- A fighter who has no problem working through double teams or a slide towards him.
