Donovan Coleman, 6-1 180, Clinton
Donovan had a real big season for Clinton last year and you can expect another one this year. He is only getting better as the days go by. He has been performing very well this summer in 7v7 and has been quite impressive at camps. He recently picked up his first offer from Alabama A&M.
Donovan does a great job covering. He has a nice back pedal and always keeps his feet moving. He is a great observer of his opponents route running tree. If you watch him closely you can see his eyes locking in on their hips. He does a great job of jumping routes and he does not guess a lot on the field. He uses great mechanics and does a great job of breaking up passes.
Coleman is also a major force in the running game. I really like the way he comes up and attacks the running game. He is a player that likes contact. He adds a major force to their rush defense due to his size. He can come up in the box and be an 8th man that plays a major role.
Amarion Tyson, 5-8 170, Picayune
It’s hard for me to not compare this kid to Bob Sanders. He is a small guy that gets it done on Picayune’s defense. Amarion plays with a lot of heart. With his size he has no choice but to be aggressive. If not he will get pushed over a lot.
Amarion plays LB in their defense, but I think he can make a great safety at the next level. Amarion is a guy that gets in and makes sure tackles. He is very acrobatic so he makes the shoes string tackles that most players can’t make. He also does not mind sticking his head in there to make contact.
Amarion does a good job in coverage. He keeps his head moving and knows when to just knock the ball down. He does a great job of completing his assignment in zone defense and doesn’t allow a lot of passes to get completed in his area. He doesn’t catch a lot of interceptions, but his presence in coverage is very big.
Ja’vontae Mosley, 6-3 165, Callaway
Mosley is a very good safety who has a knack for being around the ball. He is a tall guy that sees the field very well and breaks on passes very quickly.
Mosley does a very great job in coverage. One of my favorite plays on his films is when he picks a passes off with two receivers crossing his assignment on a zone play. His awareness to stay calm and break after the ball was amazing. He did not guess. He used his ability and instincts to help him make a great play. He reacts very well to tip balls. He is very quick on his feet and attacks the ball like a receiver when comes across his area. He doesn’t have any offers yet, but they will come this season. He is one to keep up with.
Jakevion Jones, 6-0 205, Clinton Christian Academy
Jakevion is very solid at his position. This guy is a real playmaker and he does that every time he steps on the field. He is definitely a guy to keep up with. Has great size and his ball skills are untouched.
Jakevion seems to always make the right choice in coverage. If the ball is in his vicinity he is likely to come down with it. He reads offenses very well and knows how to break on the ball. Jakevion excels on offense so he turns into an offensive player when he makes plays on defense. He can really climb the ladder and go get the ball. I had the pleasure to watch him during 7v7 this summer and he was lights out on both sides of the ball. You don’t want to make any bad throws in his direction. He is going to pick it or put a solid lick on your receiver.
Lekih Freeman Lekih Freeman 5'10" | 150 lbs | DB Saltillo | 2024 State MS , 5-10 160, Saltillo, 2024
Lekih helped out his team a good bit last year as a sophomore. He is another guy that brings that energy fans like to see. He isn’t very big, but he plays with a lot of heart.
When you watch his film he you can see that is very good in coverage. He has a nice back pedal and breaks on the ball very well. He even breaks on the ball with guys who are inches taller than him with longer wing spans. There is one play where he times his punch just right to deflect a jump pass. He makes a lot of those type of deflections. He can step up big when Saltillo needs him to.
Lekih is also a good tackler. He is a smaller guy that will stick his nose in there and make a play. He does a great job of making tackles and keeping receivers from getting yards after the catch. This is going to be a nice year for Freeman. He needs to continue to work on his size and speed. I think those two things may hinder him from having a lot of attention in recruiting. A nice summer of workouts could take his recruiting process up a notch. He is a very talented player.
Kiandre Terry Kiandre Terry 6'0" | 160 lbs | WR Jackson Academy | 2024 State MS , 6-0 160, Terry, 2024
Kiandre brings a lot of talent to the Terry defense. He brings some of the most dynamic offensive skills that a player can have. He is very great with breaking to the football. He has a lot of knowledge on the receiver position that helps him do a good job in the secondary. Terry is very long and knows how to stick those arms in his opponents way to deflect passes. He is more than likely going to win most jump ball battles that come his way. He is a kid that can easily be mentioned as a top receiver or ATH in his classification. He is a guy that is going to be on everybody’s radar when this season kicks in. He is surrounded by talent and that will help him make more plays. I can see him having 4 or 5 interceptions this season.
