The last major passing league tournament of the summer will take place this Saturday at Mission Viejo High.
20 Southern California teams will compete in four different pools. There will also be a lineman competition at the event.
Los Alamitos won the event last season and will be competing again this season.
Some of the teams competing Saturday also competed at the Battle at the Beach passing tournament last week so their previews will be short because they just competed. POOL C
Temescal Canyon, Orange, Santa Margarita, San Jacinto, Centennial
Temescal Canyon
Koa Apana is the returning quarterback for Temescal Canyon and is on the smaller side but has arm talent. Grant Givens had over 1,000 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns last season and is back.
Orange
Orange has marquee skill players in running back [player_tooltip player_id="115424" first="Kobe" last="Boykin"] and corner [player_tooltip player_id="149316" first="Jett" last="White"]. The Panthers have other skill players I enjoy like Jaelen Lightfoot, [player_tooltip player_id="282695" first="Jakob" last="Coleman"] and Jonathan Smith Jr. Quarterback is a bit of a mystery for Orange and they may have a freshman lining up under center.

Santa Margarita
Santa Margarita had some players missing at the Battle at the Beach. [player_tooltip player_id="25428" first="Jaxon" last="Potter"] should be at the event at quarterback and [player_tooltip player_id="190355" first="Niko" last="Lopez"] really impressed at last year's event. The Eagles have some young guys who will contribute and I am excited to see [player_tooltip player_id="282778" first="Taurian" last="Nash"]. [player_tooltip player_id="115420" first="Emmett" last="Mosley"] is a transfer from Servite who will compete and new transfer and Michigan commit Collins Acheampong may get some run at tight end.

San Jacinto
[player_tooltip player_id="261800" first="Dereun" last="Dortch"] was one of the more efficient quarterbacks in the area last season with 21 touchdowns and just two interceptions. He is a dual threat guy who ran for 9 yards per carry and five touchdowns last season. Malachi Brown is one of my favorite class of 2024 running backs and he has an offer from Arizona. Dillon Gresham is a four-star receiver with offers from Hawaii, Colorado and Oregon among others.

Centennial/Corona
Centennial won the Golden Bear Classic passing league tournament in Temecula last weekend. They have two Division 1 quarterbacks in Arizona State commit [player_tooltip player_id="25365" first="Izzy" last="Carter"] and [player_tooltip player_id="25368" first="Carson" last="Conklin"]. The Huskies lost some transfers to St. John Bosco but still have star power in Utah commit linebacker [player_tooltip player_id="145197" first="Owen" last="Chambliss"]. Jayson Cortes and Cornell Hatcher Jr. are two returning running backs for Centennial. [player_tooltip player_id="25434" first="Malachi" last="Riley"] is one of the top receivers in the Inland Empire.

POOL D
Mt. Carmel, Warren, Servite, Chaparral, Inglewood
Mt. Carmel
Mt. Carmel is a quality San Diego team led by coach Drew Westling who was a star quarterback in Orange County as a high schooler. Josh Bell is expected to be the quarterback and the coaching staff is high on him. Drew Ventimiglia is an undersized receiver but has great hands and is reliable. Conor Bananal is an intriguing junior receiver and Griffin Ramos is a junior defensive back I am high on.

Warren
[player_tooltip player_id="147762" first="Jordan" last="Ross"] transferred to Warren from Pacifica and is one of my favorite 2024 receivers in Southern California. I saw him dominating this tournament last season against superior teams like Servite and Long Beach Poly. His former Pacifica teammate and quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="39430" first="Darius" last="Cowens"] also transferred and figures to be the starting quarterback. Marcus Higgs is an intriguing skill guy for Warren too.

Servite
Julian Puche has gotten good reviews from media at previous passing tournaments this offseason. Wes Taylor can make plays after the catch. Servite has a lot of unknowns coming into this season and I am excited to get a look at them on Saturday.
Chaparral
I am excited to take a look at both of Chaparral's quarterbacks [player_tooltip player_id="25455" first="Caron" last="Tyler"] and [player_tooltip player_id="270900" first="Dash" last="Beierly"]. Jake Whitehead and [player_tooltip player_id="25457" first="Raymond" last="Valencia"] are fun skill players for the Pumas. I did not hear a lot about Chaparral after the Battle at the Beach so it will be interesting to see how they do Saturday.

Inglewood
It's always fun to watch Inglewood tight end and Louisville commit [player_tooltip player_id="261865" first="Jamari" last="Johnson"]. Husan Longstreet has developed a lot at quarterback this offseason and has picked up many offers. [player_tooltip player_id="115468" first="Terrell" last="Bradshaw"] is a speedy receiver and [player_tooltip player_id="278775" first="Kalayn" last="Ellis Perry"] is a lengthy athlete who can catch anything.
