The quarterback position in the class of 2023 has numerous prospects that will play on Saturdays in the future. The quarterback as a whole is an impressive one and one that is going to light up Friday nights this fall. Let’s take a look at the 2023 quarterback class!
Eli Wisdom-Shiloh Christian-6’0” 180-Pounds
Wisdom is a quarterback that wins games and does so by spreading ball to his receivers. Wisdom has led the Saints to two state championship game appearances and has emerged victorious in one. With scholarship offers from Tulane and Central Florida, Wisdom is setting the stage for a strong senior season this fall. Wisdom and the Saints performed extremely well in the Southwest Elite tournament over the summer, and I expect a deep playoff run for both Wisdom and the Saints this fall.
Donovan Whitten-Arkadelphia-6’3” 220-Pounds
The Arkadelphia signal caller is a prospect that has a very strong arm. He can fit the ball into some tight windows, and he executes the Badgers’ offense effectively. Whitten is a quarterback that does not mind using his legs to escape the pocket and pick yards to extend drives. He has earned several scholarship offers over the offseason and has impressed at every camp he has attended this summer. Arkadelphia and Whitten both have the opportunity to make deep playoff runs and really open some eyes around the state in the process.
Cedric Simmons-Malvern-6’0” 170-Pounds
Simmons has performed well all summer at several camps. Simmons has excellent mobility and does a fantastic job of throwing while on the run. He is a quarterback that can hurt the opposing defense with pass and the run. Simmons knows when to escape the pocket, however, he does an excellent job of keeping his eyes down the field looking for a wide receiver. With scholarship offers from Kansas and Middle Tennessee, the Malvern signal caller has the potential to have an excellent 2022 season.
Luke King-Hazen-6’2” 205-Pounds
Luke King is a quarterback that has been one of the most productive players in the state over the past few seasons. He is a very accurate quarterback on throws all over the field. King throws a good deep ball with ease and can hit his wide receivers in-stride. King has the mobility to be dangerous outside of the pocket. He has earned a scholarship offer from Tennessee-Martin and I expect him to have another strong season this season. Hazen has the potential for a playoff run this season.
Joe Trusty-Alma-6’3” 215-Pounds
The Alma signal caller is a quarterback that has had an extremely impressive offseason. Trusty has tremendous pocket presence, and he knows when to move around to extend the plays. I am impressed with his arm strength. Trusty can burn the ball into his wide receivers, meanwhile, he can also take some heat off and throw with some touch. Trusty does an excellent job of knowing when to run and use his legs to pick up yards. He is a quarterback coming off a strong offseason and I expect that momentum to continue into the 2022 football season.
