Jackson Season Preview
Jackson’s 11-3 season resulted in a 4A quarterfinals appearance. With one of the best young cores in the state, let’s check out some critical returners for the Aggies.
Landon Duckworth Landon Duckworth 6'3" | 190 lbs | QB Jackson | 2026 State AL 6’3 180 QB
Duckworth is another young prospect that has the potential to be a blue-chip prospect and a state championship-caliber QB. Though he’s in the class of 2026, Duckworth’s size, skill, and athleticism are off the charts for his age. He can throw with velocity at all levels off the field, throw receivers open, and drop the ball in the bucket with the deep ball. With elite arm talent, he shows extreme confidence in his arm and an ability to thread the needle in tight spaces. Duckworth is also a tremendous athlete that can guys look silly in the open field, buy time in or out the pocket, and make plays as a scrambler. It’ll be interesting to see if he can get the starting job and make an immediate program.

Omarion King 6’0 160 WR
While being a contributor on the varsity team as a freshman, King showed promise in his reps. He was able to be productive on the outside and slot, which shows his versatility. King shows nice explosion in his cuts and can attack man coverage. He also shows a high football IQ when slowing his routes down to expose holes when defenses are in zone coverage. Additionally, King has some of the softest hands in the state. He’s a very natural catcher of the ball and is excellent at adjusting to the ball and making contested/difficult catches- which speaks to his body control, hand-eye coordination, and ball skills. Look for King to develop into one of the better receivers in his class and make a major impact this upcoming fall.

Micah Jones 6’0 160 WR
Jones is a dynamic playmaker in the slot who can take the top off the defense and is an immediate scoring threat whenever he touches the ball. He’s a smooth athlete who can accelerate and get to his top speed quickly—making him a threat as a run-after-catch receiver and a deep threat on the outside. Displays enough elusiveness and quick-twitch to be effective in the open field, which makes him a viable option in the quick game. Despite having only 20 receptions, Jones produced 14 touchdowns which shows the big-play capability on limited opportunities, which is huge for any offense to have. Look for Jones to get more opportunities and be a dependable playmaker at the receiver position.

Jalen Pickens Jalen Pickens 6'1" | 205 lbs | DB Jackson | 2023 State AL 6’1 200 MLB
While leading the state in tackles (190)last season, he showed an instinctive style of play that allows him to be a playmaker in the run and passing game. As a traditional mike linebacker, he uses his speed to flow sideline to sideline and has a tremendous playmaking radius. This speed is also evident when he jumps gaps and makes tackles for losses, beating running backs to the corner or rushing the passer as a delayed blitzer. When he does find his way to the ball, Pickens is fundamental with his tackling and can be an enforcer when driving through ball carriers and letting his presence be known. At the heart of the Jackson defense looks for Pickens to continue his dominance and make the players around him better.
