The second day of the camp was just as productive as the first for the prospects and the Central Arkansas coaching staff. We are going to look at some of the prospects that put on an impressive show at the camp on Sunday. Several of the names will not come as a surprise.
Xiyiah Spencer-Cole-Wide Receiver-Fayetteville-2024
We kick things off with a wide receiver that you are going to see more of on Friday nights this fall. Spencer-Cole is a prospect that runs crisp routes and does an impressive job of creating separation using his route running. He does a solid job of working the intermediate routes and always work his way back to the quarterback. Spencer-Cole had the opportunity to showcase his route running and steady hands in Conway this weekend. The Fayetteville wide receiver is going to be a wide receiver to watch out for this season.
Preston Davis-Linebacker-Little Rock Christian-2024
Preston Davis is a linebacker that puts in the work whether it be the regular season or the offseason. He is a player that is all over the field when you turn the tape on. Davis is always around the ball carrier. Last season, when we would do the players that shined on Friday night articles, it felt like he was featured in every one of them. Davis put on an impressive performance in Conway on Sunday and showcased his impressive speed in the process. I expect a big season from the Little Rock Christian linebacker this season.
LaTonnieo Hughes-Athlete-Arkadelphia-2023
Stop me if you have heard this one. The Arkadelphia Badgers have another explosive playmaker that put on a great show in Conway this weekend. As a wide receiver, Hughes is a prospect that uses his speed to get open and make plays in the passing game. He can turn a short gain into an explosive one quickly. Meanwhile, on the defensive side he is a prospect that can disrupt the passing game in impressive fashion. He had the opportunity to showcase his speed an athleticism and did not disappoint on Sunday.
Qauayaser Whitehead-Offensive Line-Conway-2024
The Conway Wampus Cats have a talented team returning for the 2022 football season. Whitehead is a powerhouse offensive lineman with very quick feet. He uses his quickness well to keep opposing defensive linemen off-balance. Whitehead does an excellent job of clearing a rushing lane. He is an impressive pass blocker and is always looking to finish his blocks. I look for Whitehead to have a strong season for the Wampus Cats this season.
Donovan Whitten-Quarterback-Arkadelphia-2023
Whitten showed up to the Central Arkansas camp and performed the way he has all summer long. He was able to showcase his strong arm and impressed with his accuracy. Whitten is capable of making all the throws needed to run the offense. He is not afraid to escape the pocket and does an excellent job of keeping his eyes down the field to make the throw. Whitten and the Badgers have the potential for a deep playoff run and it would be wise to keep an eye out for this team playing in War Memorial this November.
