Central Arkansas Saturday Camp News

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>With summer starting to wind down a bit, Central Arkansas made sure to fit a camp into a weekend where things had slowed a bit. Credit goes out to the Central Arkansas coaching staff on running a terrific camp with plenty of talented prospects from the Natural State taking part. Think of this as being a recruiting update for this evening. We are going to look at several prospects that had impressive camps in Conway on Saturday.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id=’143614’ first=’Carter’ last=’McElhany’]-Wide Receiver-Greenbrier-2023</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>It will come as no surprise that [player_tooltip player_id=’143614’ first=’Carter’ last=’McElhany’] had a terrific camp in Conway on Saturday. He is one prospect that has done nothing, but impress scouts all summer with his excellent speed and pass catching ability. The Greenbrier wide receiver is a player that can open up the offense and present plenty of trouble to the opposing defense. The team that lands McElhany will get a player that can take it the distance from anywhere on the field. Keep an eye on him this season, he has the potential to light up Friday nights in his senior season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id=’137779’ first=’Josh’ last=’Lawrence’]-Offensive Line-Sylvan Hills-2023</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Lawrence has looked in mid-season form since around the Fourth of July and he continued to impress at the Central Arkansas camp. He was able to put his impressive speed on display this weekend. The quick feet and footwork are another facet of his game that he was able to put on display this weekend. Lawrence has the potential for a strong season with Sylvan Hills and I expect a big season from both Lawrence and Sylvan Hills this season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id=’205766’ first=’Joe’ last=’Trusty’]-Quarterback-Alma-2023</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Alma signal caller is one quarterback that I expect to open some eyes this season. He has the arm strength to stretch the field and connect with his wide receivers. Meanwhile, Trusty has the pocket awareness to know when to escape the pocket. Trusty uses his legs extremely well to pick up first downs and extend drives. We will have more on Trusty on Monday. The Prep RedZone Arkansas staff had the opportunity to interview him this week and get his thoughts on the upcoming season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id=’149592’ first=’Jake’ last=’Casey’]-Quarterback-Bentonville West-2024</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Bentonville West has a quarterback than can make all throws needed to keep opposing 7-A West defenses honors. Casey is an accurate quarterback and was able to put his accuracy on display this weekend in Conway. However, he is not afraid to use his mobility to escape the pocket to pick up yards. Casey does a good job of keeping his eyes down the field and he is someone that I expect to open some eyes this season. By November, plenty of folks are going to know the Bentonville West signal caller well.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id=’149537’ first=’Lane’ last=’Jeffcoat’]-Offensive Line-Bentonville West-2024</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Jeffcoat is a powerhouse with extremely quick feet. He has the strength to overpower opposing defensive linemen. From a run blocking perspective, Jeffcoat has no problems at all opening up a rushing lane. Jeffcoat is a solid pass blocker, and he forces to opposing defensive linemen to get creative in how they rush the passer. Jeffcoat performed extremely well in his workouts this weekend and earned a scholarship offer in the process from Central Arkansas.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id=’361302’ first=’Grayson’ last=’Wilson’]-Quarterback-Central Arkansas Christian-2025</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We have said many times over the past few months that the state of Arkansas is doing an excellent job of producing quality quarterbacks. [player_tooltip player_id=’361302’ first=’Grayson’ last=’Wilson’] is a signal caller with a strong arm that can connect with his wide receivers in-stride. What stands out regarding Wilson, is that he makes good decisions with the football. He will not force into a situation where his receivers will get lit up. Wilson earned a scholarship offer from Central Arkansas this weekend, the Central Arkansas Christian product now has a Central Arkansas offer and an Illinois offer and the year is just getting starting.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
