Shelton Sampson Shelton Sampson 6'4" | 185 lbs | WR Catholic (Baton Rouge) | 2023 State LA — 6-4, 185 WR — Catholic (Baton Rouge)
The state’s highest-ranked has taken recent visits to Florida State, LSU and Alabama as he zeroes in on a commitment decision that could come prior to his senior season. That trio, Texas A&M, Oregon and Michigan were among the top six he released in April — with the four SEC programs and the nearby Seminoles, where his former high school coach is now on staff, having long felt like the leaders.
Omarion Miller Omarion Miller 6'2" | 195 lbs | WR North Caddo | 2023 State LA — 6-2, 195 WR — North Caddo
The one-time — and longtime — LSU commitment reopened his recruitment on Memorial Day after the new staff appeared to leave him on the back-burner, particularly compared to other programs making notable pushes to potentially flip the north Louisiana star. Nebraska was an immediate candidate to watch with former Tigers wide receivers coach Mickey Joseph, to whom Miller committed last summer, now on staff. And Texas also appears to loom large, with Mississippi State, Florida State and others worth watching. But don’t rule out the home-state school, where Miller made a point to came in mid-June in front of the new staff in an effort to display not only his ability, but his continued interest in potentially wearing purple and gold at the next level.
Harvey Broussard Harvey Broussard 6'4" | 180 lbs | WR St. Martinville | 2023 State LA — 6-4, 180 WR — St. Martinville
Broussard has compiled a long list of offers during the past two years and has appeared to start zeroing in on a handful or so with his schedule of camps and visits. The long, lean St. Martinville star competed at LSU and Ole Miss in June and plans to do so at Baylor and Florida in July. He also enjoyed a visit to Colorado State and left impressed with some of what not only the program, but the university and location had to offer.
Makai Donaldson Makai Donaldson 6'4" | 200 lbs | WR Newman | 2023 State LA — 6-4, 200 WR — Newman
Arch Manning Arch Manning 6'3" | 190 lbs | QB Newman | 2023 State LA ‘s top outside target has had a busy summer with camps at Alabama, Auburn, LSU and Tulane. And Donaldson doesn’t plan on slowing down soon with Florida State, TCU, Virginia, Louisiana Tech, SMU all among the programs he’d like to get to in the coming months. Tulane also appears in line for another visit or two, as the Green Wave tries to keep the hometown standout in New Orleans.
Mark Mathieu Mark Mathieu 6'2" | 175 lbs | WR Parkway | 2023 State LA — 6-2, 175 WR — Parkway
The potential Division-I destination for the talented Shreveport area receiver will be a longer process to monitor. Mathieu sat out varsity ball in the fall after transferring from the New Orleans area to the opposite end of the state and plans to go the junior college route. But this fall will be an opportunity to better situate himself on state and regional programs’ radars for the following cycle.
Tamaj Vergin Tamaj Vergin 5'11" | 175 lbs | WR AJ Ellender | 2023 State LA — 5-11, 175 WR — A.J. Ellender
Vergin picked up an early Mississippi State offer in January 2021, but has been largely quiet on the recruiting front despite possessing clear Division-I talent. The Bayou parishes standout could end up a late steal this winter.
Jace Larsen Jace Larsen 6'2" | 170 lbs | WR Jesuit | 2023 State LA — 6-2, 170 WR — Jesuit
Southeastern Louisiana, Northwestern State and Nicholls State extended the first three Division-I offers to the underrated Catholic League pass-catcher in May.
Kylen Lampton Kylen Lampton 5'11" | 170 lbs | WR Edna Karr | 2023 State LA — 5-11, 170 WR — Edna Karr
The New Orleans speedster said Stephen F. Austin, Jackson State, Grambling State, Louisville and Mississippi State have been some of the programs from which he’s heard the most this summer, including a few camp trips in June. Next up is Houston in July.
Dakota Williams Dakota Williams 6'1" | 195 lbs | WR Hahnville | 2023 State LA — 6-1, 195 WR — Hahnville
The Tulane commitment was excited to be back to full health in April six months after an ACL and meniscus surgery, picked up a string of new offers — from Grambling State, Nicholls State, Northwestern State, Louisiana Tech, UNC Charlotte and Alcorn State — during his non-contact participation in his school’s spring practices and then attended camps at Tulane, Alabama and Mississippi State.
Daniel Blood Daniel Blood 6'0" | 170 lbs | WR Destrehan | 2023 State LA — 6-0, 170 WR — Destrehan
The other currently committed prospect on this list announced his pledge to Louisiana (Lafayette) last week. Blood had earned more than a dozen offers thus far this year before making his move with the home-state Cajuns.
Tyrus Morris Tyrus Morris 5'10" | 165 lbs | WR McDonogh 35 | 2023 State LA — 5-10, 165 WR — McDonogh 35
The largely under-the-radar New Orleans standout began earning offers in January with South Alabama and has added ULM, Marshall, UTSA and Texas State since then and additionally visited hometown Tulane and home-state Louisiana Tech along the way.
