Wednesday night, that’s exactly what happened in Albuquerque as the top three quarterbacks in our 2023 rankings went head-in-head: Aiden Armenta (La Cueva), Evan Wysong (Cleveland) and Paul Cieremans (Los Lunas).
All three proved why they are so highly regarded, calmly making laser throws into tight windows or hitting wide receivers racing down the sidelines in stride. Wednesday’s action at La Cueva High School served as just an appetizer for the regular season as La Cueva faces both Cleveland and Los Lunas. Just one more night remains in the Big School Division of the Albuquerque Metro Passing League. Sevens schools (Atrisco Heritage, Cibola, Eldorado, Manzano, Valencia, Volcano Vista and West Mesa) battle Monday night at Eldorado High and West Mesa High.
