Nate Blount, 5-11 215, Brandon
Nate reminds me of the Fred Taylor style RBs. The shorter stocky guys that can still pick up some ground when running the ball. Him missing four games last season may be the reason Brandon are runner ups and not champs. It would have been one more extra problem on the field for their opponent to deal with.
Nate is a RB that is going to wear your defense down. If your guys don’t like contact all game then you may want to see sit them on the bench. He is a shorter guy that has a big lower body. It is hard to get under him to make a solid tackle. He is moving with some motion so he isn’t the easiest guy to chase down either. He is a player that finishes runs. He keeps those legs chopping and always get those extra hard yards. He splits carries with another great RB, but that won’t keep him from getting his touches. Blount is the kind of guy you want to touch the ball twenty times a game with ease. “Feed him, Seymour” is what should come from the stands every time he is in the backfield. Look for this guy to have an amazing year.
Malik Montgomery “Turbo”, 6-0 210, Vicksburg
Malik is a super freak, and I’m sure Rick James would agree. This man runs a 4.51, he can squat 600 pounds and his nickname is “Turbo”. He lives up to that name. This kid can flat out fly. Don’t let that size fool you. He can pick them up and put them down with the best of them. He bursts into another gear when he sees the open field. Don’t even think about trying to arm tackle him. He comes with a lot of size and speed. You wouldn’t want to hyper extend an elbow being scary and lazy with this guy.
Malik can be very diverse with his running game. He can tote it up the middle or even be a back that picks up speed around the edge. He even provides those hard earned yards that coaches need in the red zone. He rushed for over 1200 yards last season and had 12 TDs. He was only a sophomore. He is going to be a guy that picks up a lot of offers during this season. He is somebody to check for. He has all the right tools to be a good RB on the next level. He is definitely a dude on the field. Any coach would be happy to have Turbo on their team. He currently has two offers, one from Grambling State and one from Lane College. Did I mention he has a 3.9 GPA?
Quay Middlebrooks, 5-9 185, Tupelo
Quay is one of those Warrick Dunn style backs. He may be a smaller guy, but he can get the job done. He has a lot of speed and is very hard to bring down in the open field. He hits the gaps hard and he has a lot of heart to he his size. He has a lot of straight forward speed and he can change directions very well. He isn’t the biggest back out there, but his toughness will allow him to have the carries a game you need your back to have. He catches the ball out of the backfield like a receiver and runs nice enough routes to be a threat in their passing game.
