2022 Program Preview: Sacred Heart Prep

&nbsp; <em><strong>DL RJ Stephens, 2023</strong></em> Stephens is a disruptive and explosive player that can play multiple positions along the defensive line. Going into the season, he holds multiple FCS offers and is one of the better defenders the entire Bay Area has to offer. Strong at the POA, he has a good motor and wins with leverage, lock out and a violent shed in the run game. As a pass rusher he has quick hands at the POA and can flip his hips and get vertical in a hurry. &nbsp; <em><strong>S John Chung, 2023</strong></em> Chung is a recent Harvard commit and has put together a very productive off-season while having a strong 2021 campaign. He is a disruptive third level defender with natural instincts when jumping routes and baiting quarterbacks into bad throws over the middle. He shows good ball skills and is not afraid to come up and trigger in the box while exploding through contact behind the line of scrimmage. Overall, he is a well balance defender that will fit nicely in the Ivy league. &nbsp; <em><strong><a class="uni-link--implied" href="https://www.hudl.com/profile/13160815">DE Eliseo Buffington, 2023</a></strong></em> Buffington had an injury in 2021, but is one of the more intriguing prospects in the Bay and is very under-recruited. Still developing, he has the ideal frame and length for the next level while strong against the run and a natural bender off the edge with a variety of pass rush moves in his arsenal. A high motor kid, it should not be long until a FCS program offers and takes a chance on his upside and raw talent. &nbsp; <em><strong>LB [player_tooltip player_id="263505" first="Shay" last="O’Kelly"], 2023</strong></em> O’Kelly is one of the better inside linebackers across Northern California and is a high IQ kid with natural instincts and terrific play recognition and tackling abilities. In the box, he is a thumper that can get off blocks, scrape over the top and is a physical tackler that flies around. Showing good lateral movement abilities and breaks quickly to pass catchers in zone coverage, he is athletic enough to cover backs out of the backfield and can apply pressure off the edge with well timed blitz’s while taking good angles to ball carriers in the open field. He should once again be one of the top tacklers and most active defenders the region has to offer in 2022. &nbsp; <em><strong>RB/LB Andrew Latu, 2023</strong></em> Latu is a very explosive and versatile outside linebacker that excels in man coverage and is a big-time hitter off the edge. He shows good closing speed and is physical through his tackles while exploding through contact and plays violent near the line of scrimmage. Showing good closing speed and a quick play recognition, he can track down ball carriers backside while showing good pursuit angles and breaking down in the open field. A high motor and tough player, he should pickup more FCS interest as he moves through his Senior season. &nbsp; <em><strong>WR Carter Shaw, 2023</strong></em> Shaw is a very intriguing prospect with good size, a huge catch radius and has outstanding speed downfield with upside at the next level. He is explosive in the return game while showing vision in space and hits a third level gear in the open field to breakaway and force tacklers to take bad angles. Shaw shows good route running abilities on both in-breaking and outbreaking routes while able to track the ball well, make contested catches and create separation with long strides and arm length.
