The Class A Championship was won by a single score that came late in the 4th-quarter by star do-it-all athlete Cooper Rother Cooper Rother 5'10" | 180 lbs | ATH Bishop Guilfoyle | 2023 State PA , whose imprint was made all over this game. Huge shout out to the Marauders who weren’t necessarily favorites to take home a championship after the regular season, finishing 6-4 in conference play. The eventual championship run exemplifies the group’s resiliency, as Bishop Guilfoyle started the season losing two of their first three games by an average of 19 points. None of this mattered when playoff time came around, as the Marauders went on to win five straight games against the likes of Homer-Center, Canton, as well as clutch victories over Juniata Valley and Redbank Valley to cap off an 11-4 season and State Title.
This time last year, Bishop Guilfoyle was hardly represented, with Cooper Rother Cooper Rother 5'10" | 180 lbs | ATH Bishop Guilfoyle | 2023 State PA being the only ranked prospect to represent the program on this site. After the Marauders statement Fall season, the program has given us no choice but to put their prospects on the map. Below are four ranked Marauders, along with WL player Ryan Hagg. We will begin to profile what each prospect brings to the table.
This past May, Cioffari earned his first offer out of Clarion University, a recruiting move that has shot his stock through the roof heading into his final high school campaign. Cioffari now places as the top prospect at the program. We see his current state as one of the more desirable skillsets this program has to offer those at the next level. The 6’3, 210 pound edge rusher has helped lead Bishop Guilfoyle to a District title in each year of his high school career. Cioffari leans toward the athletic side of the pass-rushing spectrum, showing he can rush with his hand on or off the dirt. He can also drop into coverage at OLB if need be. The young man eats at the LOS, showing a good get-off that helped him secure 12 sacks in 13 games. Many of the sacks came after second and third efforts, proving to those wondering that he’s more than capable of pursuing the football to the whistle, high motor. Hope to see his role expand on offense, Cioffari can act as the team’s leading receiver this Fall.
Dominic Yanoshak Dominic Yanoshak 5’11” | 185 lbs | ATH Bishop Guilfoyle | 2023 State PA acts as the tone-setter of the defense, ranking as the second-highest BG player in the class of 2023. The 1st-Team All-State linebacker accumulated 132 total tackles last year, along with 8 TFLs, 3 forced fumbles, and even 18 receptions on offense. The “ATH” designation makes sense when you plug on the tape. Bishop Guilfoyle is known for versatile players who will do what it takes to win football games. The formula proved to be successful last Fall. Yanoshak is un-offered to this point, despite receiving a D2 grade from us. Yanoshak’s time will come in time. We hope to see more of the same this Fall out of this young man, efficient and reliable play on offense combined with dominant run-stopping ability on defense.
Cooper Rother Cooper Rother 5’10” | 180 lbs | ATH Bishop Guilfoyle | 2023 State PA ‘s rank is strictly a reflection of his recruitment, which is questionably slow at the moment. There might not be a better player in his entire district when you put all of his skills into consideration. Just two weeks ago, Rother recieved his first roster spot from Misericordia University. We still believe that Rother carries a D2 ceiling, but another dominant Fall season will sure up any questions recruiters might have of the young man. Rother is far from just a defensive back, there quite literally isn’t a phacet of the game Rother wasn’t involved in. Wild production starts on the ground, where the senior racked up over 1,000 yards on the ground with 11 scores. Add his prowess as a pass-catcher and you have just under 50 recpetions for 661 yards through the air. Rother took home All-Conference honors at RB, WR and DB positions. Enough cannot be said about this young man’s value to the program. I hope more programs pull the trigger sooner rather than later.
Highlights
Karson Kiesewetter
Karson Kiesewetter
Both Hagg and Kiesewetter are somehow unranked on the site. That’s particularly concerning given how productive Kiesewetter was under center for Bishop Guilfoyle. Kiesewetter was equally dynamic with his decision making and accuracy as he was with his legs in the open field. The senior surmounted the 3,000 yard threshold last Fall, throwing for 1900 yards and rushing for 1100, leading to a whopping 35 total touchdowns. Not much is known of the QB’s recruitment at the moment, we hope it isn’t as non-existent as his pressence on our site, which has to change. The BG system allows Kiesewetter to make reads under RPO sets that show off his ability to read the off-man. I love his ability to make something out of nothing in the passing game as well, the kid excels when plays breakdown, can make special plays when under pressure, being pursued or when off-platform.
Ryan Hagg
Ryan Hagg
Ryan Hagg is a junior who could see a boost in both production and stock this Fall. Hagg’s role is expected to expand, at least on offense. At defensive back, Hagg’s build doesn’t necessarily scream prototypical or ideal, yet his tape shows he can hold his own at outside corner. The PBU’s and interceptions aside, Hagg always seems to be at the right place at the right time, whether that be containing an edge to tackle the ball carrier, or in-phase with a potential target in the short to intermediate areas of the field. Hagg has ketchup speed to run with guys in his district. Hagg can certainly play the football, the tape shows BG has a quality player at corner who can very much provide reps at WR or RB on offense. Another versatile prospect that will do what is asked of him on either side of the ball. Hagg fits right in.
