Many participants from the Carolinas and beyond got tested in the 40-yard dash, agility drills, and 1 on 1’s in front of a number of college coaches in attendance. These are a few standouts from my perspective in a four-part series:
Jalen Harris – WR – Hickory Ridge – Class of 2024
Jalen plays for a very talented team in Hickory Ridge who has a big-time recruit at his position in Christian Hamilton Christian Hamilton 6'0" | 175 lbs | WR Hickory Ridge | 2023 State NC , so that combined with the fact that he had a shortened season last year due to injury put him under the radar. But he is healthy now and this 6’3 physically imposing player screams as an X receiver on the outside that commands attention from a team’s top DB or coverage rolled his way. At Camp LIT he was simply dominant in 1 on 1’s and was super impressive in jump ball situations and in-breaking routes in particular. Charlotte did offer him and as more people see him up close, along with early season film, I expect more offers to come Jalen’s way.
Luke Bailey Luke Bailey 5'11" | 195 lbs | ATH Providence | 2023 State NC – WR – Providence – Class of 2023
Luke Bailey Luke Bailey 5'11" | 195 lbs | ATH Providence | 2023 State NC is a heck of an athlete and he impressed in the agility drills portion of Camp LIT for sure. Luke chose to participate as a WR and projects as a future slot WR on the next level, but for his high school team, he will be playing running back which will give him more chances with the ball in his hands. At 5’10 and 195 pounds, Luke has worked hard on his body and in the right program at the next level, would be ready to step in and contribute. As a WR he can make plays after the catch and is not afraid to do the dirty work, blocking well in the run game.
Joshua Alston – WR – East Forsyth – Class of 2024
The first thing I loved about Josh was his size – 6’4 and 180 pounds, he flashed a good release off the line in the 1 on 1 portion of the camp and high-pointed the football well. His tape appears he played JV football last year, but he was absolutely dominant and his varsity team was a very good team that could afford to let him experience the success he did on that level. I expect Josh to explode onto the scene and he should start generating interest pretty quickly.
Jaidan Lee – WR – Mallard Creek – Class of 2023
Jaidan ran one of the fastest times overall at Camp LIT with a 4.43 hand-timed 40 – he is definitely a game breaker with the ball in his hands. Overall, he looked very good through the agility portion of the camp and ran some very good routes during 1 on 1’s. At 5’10 and 160 pounds, he is a slot receiver that can do a number of things from that position – quick screen game, win mismatches vs. safeties/linebackers, and even get involved in the run game. Lee should expect his recruitment to grow as the season begins.
Avery McFadden Avery McFadden 5'10" | 175 lbs | WR Hillcrest | 2024 State SC – WR – Hillcrest – Class of 2024
Avery got my attention, especially during the hand-timed 40s and 1 on 1’s at Camp LIT. He has been hand-timed in the 4.4 range previously, and every time I looked up I saw him running downfield 5 yards past the defensive back he was going against. His highlight tape is incredibly impressive – he can work in the screen game, be a home-run hitter on the deep routes, and he can be a game-changer on special teams with returned kicks and punts for touchdowns. At 5’9 and 170 pounds, he is another young man that projects to be a slot weapon on the next level for a lucky college or university.
