A large amount of teams use run based offenses and base their schemes off of using the run to get a ton of yards. I went through the list of some of the top RBs by stats in the state. These six lead their position by Rushing yards and plenty of other stats. I think these RBs could really go off and show off their skills going into the 2022 season and will be major weapons and contenders. They come from all over the state and they all have dominated their position.
FB Brock Roblee Brock Roblee 5'11" | 180 lbs | RB North Platte | 2023 State NE North Platte
Brock is perfect as a fullback, North Platte uses the wishbone formation and its variations. In this formation the main back is a fullback. Brock is fast and strong and with the extra support he gets in the wishbone and flexbone, he excels. Last season Brock had 1,186 yards and 11 touchdowns. He averaged 107 yards per game and 5.6 yards a carry. His longest rush was 66 yards. Those stats don’t sound like a fullback but they definitely are. North Platte has a decent schedule this season and Brock is definitely going to be one of the key factors in their success.
HB Carlos Collazo Carlos Collazo 5'9" | 200 lbs | RB Aurora | 2023 State NE Aurora
Carlos is also at the perfect spot, Aurora’s offense really fits him. The mix of Spread and I formations helped Carlos spread his talent out. Utilizing outside and inside runs along with him going out for passes helps confuse the defense. His strength and speed help make him even more deadly. In 2021 Carlos rushed for 1,238 yards averaging 123yds per game. He had 7 games where he rushed for 100 or more yards. He totaled 20 TDs rushing, adding onto that Carlos had 173 yards off of 15 catches and another 5 touchdowns. He is going to be one of the top leaders in Class B next season and hopefully he can get another 25 TDs.
Te’Shaun Porter Te’Shaun Porter 5'11" | 200 lbs | RB Omaha North | 2023 State NE Omaha North
Te’Shaun is in the running to be another elite running back from Omaha North, like the others Porter is fast and strong. Omaha North can run the ball outside or inside the pocket and Te’Shaun will make it work. His stats from last year are amazing and they really show what he can do. Porter rushed for 1,610 total rushing yards last season making it to 18 TDs. He averaged 134 yards a game and carried the ball a total of 265 times. Plus he averaged about 6.1 yards a carry. Absolutely Elite.
RB Deegan Nelson Deegan Nelson 5'10" | 190 lbs | RB Beatrice | 2023 State NE Beatrice
Deegan surprised me between his stats and his film. Beatrice runs a very nice I formation Offense with three backs behind the quarterback. This is such a power set and they are running it continuously. Deegan pushes through and makes it count every play. He is averaging 6.5 yards a carry showing how great of a power back he is. But that doesn’t mean he isn’t slow. Deegan is still fast totaling 1,097 yards last season with an average 107.5 yards a game. He had 14 touchdowns last season and he will definitely have more this fall.
RB CharMar Brown CharMar Brown 6'0" | 200 lbs | RB Creighton Prep | 2023 State NE Creighton Prep
Charmar is like a a icebreaker ship going through the North Pole. Nothing can stop this guy, It doesn’t matter what part of the field Brown is on a mission to the end zone. Charmar had 1,067 yards rushing last year averaging a nice 6.9 yards a carry. His best stat in my opinion is his 118.6 yards a game which is legendary. Add on 15 touchdowns last and how could you not be impressed. The Bluejays season will be tough but with Brown in the backfield.
This season is going to be one of the best for running backs. We have backs from many schools across the state that shows why Nebraska knows how to run the ball. All of these players will definitely have plenty of chances to improve and I expect all of these elite backs to show off their skills in 2022.
