The Top 5 Defensive Linemen in the Class of 2024

The 2024 Rankings have been updated and there have been several shifts within the list. There have been many players to move up and down within the list, and numerous athletes have made a case to earn a place on the list. Here are the Top 5 ranked Defensive Linemen in the state of Virginia.   [player_tooltip player_id="293571" first="Makai" last="Byerson"] | 6’6’’ 220 lbs | Manchester High School (See Stock Risers) Byerson is the number one ranked Defensive Lineman in the state. A 1st Team All Region and 2nd Team All Metro football player, Byerson shows his athleticism by also being a 2nd Team All Region 6A player basketball. The 6’6’’ Athlete has also been active this camp season, having won the Defensive Line MVP at the Under Armour Elite Underclassmen Camp in May. He has offers from James Madison, Duke, Virginia Tech, Old Dominion, East Carolina, Marshall, and Maryland (which he just received this afternoon.)   [player_tooltip player_id="363119" first="Anthony" last="Reddick"] | 6’3’’ 220 lbs | Phoebus High School Reddick is a new addition who is ranked as the 2nd Defensive Lineman and the 10 overall prospect in the state. He was named First Team All State, First Team All Region, and 2nd Team All District as a Defensive End. he also plays some Tight End on the offensive side of the ball, and recently scored 9 touchdowns in a team 7v7 at the University of North Carolina. He holds offers from Bowling Green, Boston College, Virginia Tech, Old Dominion, Coastal Carolina, Duke, and Liberty.   [player_tooltip player_id="159395" first="Micah" last="Pennix"] | 6’1’’ 270 lbs | Brookville High School Pennix is the 3rd ranked Defensive Lineman and 21st ranked overall prospect in the state. He is 1st Team All State and First Team All Region 3C Defensive Linemen selection, and was also named 2nd Team All Region as an Offensive Lineman. He currently has an offer from Liberty, and is receiving interest from Michigan, Duke, and Oklahoma amongst a few other Power 45 programs.   [player_tooltip player_id="363124" first="Eric" last="Mensah"] | 6’3’’ 255 lbs | Mountain View High School Mensah is another new addition to the rankings. The 6’3’’ Defensive End is ranked 4th at his position within the state and 28th overall as a prospect in the state of Virginia. He also earned First Team All Defense honors after his sophomore season last fall. Mensah currently holds offers from the University of Virginia, Wake Forest, Boston College, Old Dominion, West Virginia, and UNC- Charlotte.   [player_tooltip player_id="363127" first="Gerard" last="Johnson"] | 6’4’’ 225 lbs | Frank W. Cox High School Johnson ,a new addition to the Top 5 Defensive Lineman list, comes in as the 5th ranked athlete at that position and 31st overall player in the state of Virginia. He earned 2nd Team All Beach District honors last season as a sophomore Defensive End, and has seven offers from Wake Forest, Liberty, Old Dominion, Duke, Bowling Green, Boston College, and Virginia Tech.
