One of the most exciting teams to watch out of the Oakland Athletic League will be the Fremont Tigers. They had a loaded roster last season which featured Kalen Woods, the talented division 1 athlete who signed with the University of New Mexico. They return a talented core group of players next season. Although their overall team is young, they have a couple of guys who have blue-chip-level potential. Let's take a look at some players who will be key contributors this upcoming season.   Molomona Kata - Offensive Guard - 6'2"/280 - 2023 Twitter: https://twitter.com/molomona1 [caption id="attachment_354786" align="alignright" width="300"] Photo: Mona Kata awaits his rep at the GSA tourney[/caption] Kata will be relieved heavily upon as the senior leader for both sides of the line. Molomona sports a thick solid frame to go along with natural power. I got to watch him live at a couple of spring lineman tournaments and he got better as he got more reps. We are looking at a player who is only scratching the surface of what he is truly capable of. His natural strength is very impressive. Once he gets going he is gonna be a tough matchup for any opposing lineman. His film shows someone who knows how to plug gaps and eat up space so his linebackers can roam freely. He can play with a mean streak once he gets fired up. At that point, watch out!   [player_tooltip player_id="354710" first="Sosefo" last="Akuila"] - Athlete - 6'3"/230 - 2024 Twitter: https://twitter.com/Sefo_Akuila [caption id="attachment_354764" align="alignright" width="300"] Photo: [player_tooltip player_id='683612' first='Sefo' last='Akuila'] rolls out during a game[/caption] Usually, when we talk about kids who are naturally built and physically imposing like this, we are referring to the players coming from the south. Oakland has their own version in [player_tooltip player_id='683612' first='Sefo' last='Akuila']. A couple of things to point out at first glance is that he definitely passes the "eye test" when it comes to college recruiting. He is already 6'3" and weighs 230 pounds with two years left of high school. The next thing that stands out is the natural athletism. In a nutshell, the kid is physically and athletically advanced and well ahead of most kids in his class. He showcased it on a couple 60 plus runs in which he completely left the defense in the dust. Sosefo, or Sefo, as he is known, is the quarterback (with a big arm) for Fremont High but can project at multiple positions at the next level. Word is he will be playing defense this upcoming year and he will definitely draw a lot of recruiting attention as the nation gets to see him operate on the defensive side of the ball. Based on what he has already shown, he has the ability to become a big-time recruit with major power five offers.   Ama[player_tooltip player_id='683606' first='Naki' last='Tuakoi'] – Linebacker – 6'3″/220 – 2024 Twitter: https://twitter.com/ATuakoi [caption id="attachment_354838" align="alignleft" width="300"] Photo: [player_tooltip player_id='683606' first='Naki' last='Tuakoi'] during the Giant Skillz Athletics Tourney[/caption] It is only a matter of time before Naki becomes a nationally known prospect. Tuakoi is oozing with natural talent. He was the main player being talked about amongst his squad when it came to upcoming players to watch. He confirmed it all once I saw him perform live at a lineman showcase. His speed is just one of many traits in his arsenal. Naki is a high IQ player who knows how to use his hands, has great feet, and very underrated strength. He won almost every rep at his very first lineman showcase. He has great bend coming off the edge. He plays off of the tackle's momentum with a nasty spin move that causes them to lose him. The crazy thing is that Naki plays linebacker for the Tigers. His film highlights his amazing closing speed, hitting ability, and his coverage skills. To sum it up, he can play anywhere along the front seven. He possesses sideline to sideline speed and athletism to play linebacker, or the skills and ability to put his hand in the dirt if necessary. He was a first-team OAL selection who averaged almost 15 tackles per game. Overall, he is one of the best recruits you will see in the country.   Isaiah Evans - Running Back - 5'9"/203 - 2024 Twitter: https://twitter.com/capalot_17zay Evans plays the classic short-yardage power-back role for the Fremont Tigers. The rising junior has an impressive build for someone who still has two seasons left of high school football. He will definitely see high usage during goal-line situations as he looks tough to bring down one on one. Fremont has the potential to run the ball down teams' throats, especially with [player_tooltip player_id='683612' first='Sefo' last='Akuila'] playing the dual-threat role. Isaiah will play a big part in the offense as they attempt to wear down opposing defenses. Evans should see his carries increase this year as he becomes more involved in the Tiger's offense.   [player_tooltip player_id="348094" first="Siosiua" last="Vete"] - Offensive Tackle - 6'5"/260 - 2025 Twitter: https://twitter.com/siua_v12 [caption id="attachment_354823" align="alignright" width="300"] Photo: Siua Vete during 1on1s at the GSA tourney[/caption] Siua was another talented and up-and-coming prospect that I got to witness live. He already sports the frame that colleges want as he towers over most players. He is only a sophomore and is still developing as a prospect. The potential of this kid is huge and coaches say he has already been receiving interest from a D1 school. He has a twin who will man the other tackle position next season so that should be exciting to watch. Although he was one of the younger players at the showcases, he held his own. He got better and better and even helped get the OPIN Athletics to the championship round during the Giant Skillz Athletics showcase tourney. One of his coaches spoke highly of Siua. "He makes sure to correct mistakes so that he doesn't do them again," said, Coach Pou Tauaho.
