Tomorrow the Alma Showcase will take place. We always see plenty of talent at the skill positions during this tournament and tomorrow should not be any different. We are going to look at a few players that have the potential to have strong tournament performances on Friday. Prep RedZone Arkansas will be in attendance, and this is always one of my favorite tournaments. The folks in Alma do a great job of hosting it every year.
[player_tooltip player_id="205766" first="Joe" last="Trusty"]-Quarterback-Alma-2023
We start off looking at prospects to watch in this showcase with the hosting team’s quarterback. Trusty is an accurate quarterback that has the arm strength to connect with his wide receivers. The Alma signal caller does a good job of not locking in on just one wide receiver and he is someone that I expect to have an impressive tournament. Trusty has had a strong offseason up to this point and I look for that trend to continue tomorrow.
[player_tooltip player_id="172338" first="Kaylon" last="Morris"]-Wide Receiver-Fayetteville-2023
At the Fayetteville spring game a few weeks ago, [player_tooltip player_id="172338" first="Kaylon" last="Morris"] opened plenty of eyes. Morris has good speed and a knack for creating separation. He has the speed and the athletic ability to create separation and make big plays in the passing game for Fayetteville this season. I look forward to seeing what Morris has in store for opposing defensive backs at the Alma Showcase. He has the talent to continue a strong offseason.
[player_tooltip player_id="172599" first="Conner" last="Willis"]-Quarterback-Barton-2024
The Alma Showcase has plenty of talented signal callers and [player_tooltip player_id="172599" first="Conner" last="Willis"] fits that description perfectly. Willis has a strong arm and can hit his wide receivers in stride. He is coming off an extremely impressive 2021 football season. Willis is a quarterback that has plenty of momentum going into the spring season and I look forward to seeing what he can do at the Alma Showcase. Willis is one of my sleepers in the 2024 class and I expect a strong 2022 season.
LJ Robbins-Wide Receiver-Greenwood-2024
The Greenwood Bulldogs have a talented receiving corps that can cause plenty of headaches for the opposing defense. Robbins is a smooth route runner that was on the receiving end of seven touchdown passes last season. Robbins has the potential for a strong 2022 season and his versatility well serve him well this upcoming season. Greenwood players are always ready to play, and this tournament will be an eye opener to kick off preparations for the 2022 season. Keep an eye on Robbins at this tournament.
[player_tooltip player_id="155329" first="Bryce" last="Perkins"]-Quarterback-Van Buren-2024
[player_tooltip player_id="155329" first="Bryce" last="Perkins"] had a strong 2021 football season and I look for that trend to continue in the upcoming season. During the offseason, Perkins has displayed an accurate deep ball and can hit his receivers in stride. He is a quarterback that can fit the football into some tight windows. Van Buren is a team that has a number of talented wide receivers to choose from when throwing the ball. The Alma Showcase will be a good preview for what Perkins and the Pointers are capable of this season.
[player_tooltip player_id="135689" first="Carson" last="Morgan"]-Running Back-Bentonville West-2023
Morgan is one of the most versatile prospects on the offensive side of the ball in the class of 2023. Looking primarily at his talent as a wide receiver. Morgan is a receiver that runs good routes, and he mixes that well with his impressive speed. He is a dangerous player to attempt to cover. Along with [player_tooltip player_id="149592" first="Jake" last="Casey"], Bentonville West has the potential to be a dangerous offense this season.
