Edgewater Stands Tall At UCF
Orlando – Score one for the home team on Saturday as the UCF 7-on-7 three-day event came to an end.
Following Vero Beach (Wednesday) and Rockledge (Thursday), Orlando Edgewater broke through on Saturday to win the team title.
Like the first two days, while the teams were competing on the practice fields, inside the “Bounce House” Stadium and in the indoor, the linemen also battled and learned in the heat and humidity.
For head coach Cameron Duke and his Eagles, this is certainly not their first time in the spotlight. Remember, this program was a state runner up in 7A in 2019 and 2020, so being among the best team in a loaded field on Saturday was certainly no surprise.
Over 80 football teams flocked to UCF as well as 300 linemen for the three days as head coach Gus Malzahn and his staff rolled out the red carpet.
On Saturday, Edgewater beat Coach A.J. Scott and Miramar, 12-7, for the team title – and Wildwood and Tampa Plant finished among the top 4.
In addition to those teams, Saturday brought in Tampa Carrollwood Day, Palm Bay, Fredrica Academy, Lake Worth Park Vista, Clermont East Ridge, Winter Garden Foundation Academy and St. Cloud joined Miramar in one bracket.
Joining Tampa Plant and Edgewater in the other bracket were Coconut Creek North Broward Prep, Eustis, Miami Coral Park, Orlando Bishop Moore, Longwood Lyman and Alachua Santa Fe.
Wildwood’s bracket included Fort Myers Riverdale, Plantation, Jacksonville Raines, Pembroke Pines West Broward, Miramar B squad and Tampa Plant’s B squad.
