We already have 214 athletes ranked, but there is so much more talent to include over the next couple of updates. During this next phase of updates you are will see the addition of several athletes that are going to be very popular names in recruiting offices across the Midwest and country overall. I can’t wait to see where these dudes debut during our summer update starting in July. Let’s dive into why I’m so excited for this group!
Cayden Brandenburg Cayden Brandenburg 5'11" | 175 lbs | ATH Janesville Parker Highschool | 2024 State WI , WR- Janesville Parker (Cayden’s Sophomore Highlights)
The 5’11’’ 170 lbs WR is part of one of the deepest WR groups in WI for this coming season. Cayden’s game perfectly fits the role of a slot receiver at the next level. He has a compact, strong frame blessed with the body control that allows him to easily cut, change direction, and juke at or near top speed. Brandenburg is best after the catch. His vision to find green grass and blocks downfield allow him to generate consistent yards after the catch. His vision and instincts have also allowed him to make an impact as an RB. The slot is going to continue to be his best position. Let him attack the middle and with short routes, and then let him do what he does best after the catch. We could see big numbers this fall for Cayden. Don’t miss out on him!
Deshaun Owens, OL- Milwaukee Riverside (Deshaun’s Sophomore Highlights)
Deshaun is an OL with a ton of potential. I’m very excited to see how he develops over the next couple of seasons because what he has shown is a great foundation to build on. The 6’2″ 290 lbs OT has a massive, strong upper body. He has an initial punch and heavy hands that are able to send defenders to the grass with one shot. His lower body really stands out. He has skinny ankles hinting that he has the ability to move easily with light feet. The film backs up the build. Owens can burst out of his stance well, slide laterally, and kick slide smoothly in pass pro. Owens personifies the idea of a dancing bear. keep an eye on him. I’m excited to see where he debuts in the rankings later this summer.
Ross Liegel, DL- Baraboo (Ross’ Sophomore Highlights)
Boy do we have a breakout candidate here! I also can’t wait to get him into the rankings to see where he stacks up in this loaded class. Ross has a freakish frame at 6’7 210 lbs. Length is no question with this athlete. He is able to load up and spring out of his stance with a strong first step, and once in the backfield the long strider closes quickly. He also uses his length to make tackles that initially look to be outside his range. I’m pumped to watch him grow and fill out that frame. Baraboo is going to be looking for new leaders on defense after graduation of the Class of 2022. Ross could be that dude. Big year incoming and a high debut in the rankings also.
Shane Willenbring, OL/DL- Aquinas (Shane’s Sophomore Highlights)
This is an intriuging one. Shane has great length at 6’5″, but at 230 lbs he will need to continue to fill out if he is looking to play at the next level. that isn’t a huge concern as his long, lean frame is begging for that added size and strength. The first team all conference sophomore LT held down the blindside for one of the top QBs in the Class of 2023 on the way to a state title. I really like Shane’s hand usage. He doesn’t just look to throw a shoulder. He wants to get hands on, drive, and control his opponent. He also has exceptional range. Shane has no issue getting out on the edge to block LBs and DBs in the screen game. The potential is bubbling over. I’m looking for a solid debut, and an even bigger rise after his junior season.
Logan Frey, OL- Brookfield East (Logan’s Sophomore Highlights)
The OL group is a deep one for the Class of 2024. Another member of the group is the 6’4″ 245 lbs LT out of Brookfield East. Logan is a bulldozer in the run game, and it is only going to become more of a strength as he fills out with muscle. He already possesses heavy hands that generate a good initial push thanks to his first punch. He follows through with his hips and runs his feet creating a lot of movement in the trenches. I also love his tenacity as he buries defenders into the ground at every opportunity. I’m excited to see how he looks by the time the season rolls around. Big things coming for him.
Cameron Scott, DL- Appleton East (Cameron’s Sophomore Highlights)
Coming in at 6’4″ 215 lbs is an enticing DE prospect. He carries that 215 lbs with ease telling me that he is going to be able to add a lot more size. I’m predicting that we see a big breakout year from the incoming junior. There is a void for him to fill on the DL after graduation of some 2022s. Cameron also has the tools to launch himself onto the recruiting scene. He is a high motor athlete who pursues hard to the ball, has the strength to hold the line in the run game, and has shown glimpses of using his elite length to create separation. Scott split time between varsity and JV last season. This year look for him to be a consistent contributor on Friday nights.
Carter Kadow Carter Kadow 6'7" | 245 lbs | OL Middleton | 2024 State WI , TE- Middleton (Carter’s Highlight Page)
One word: potential. The 6’7″ 230 lbs TE is overflowing with it. In 2021, he was used primarily as an inline blocker where he was able to drive DEs off the ball, and get to the second level to open up second level running lanes. Carter should grab the attention of the next level as a TE, but he could also grab the attention of the next level as a potential position change candidate. With his size, and the frame to hold far more weight, Carter could offer value as an OL. I believe he should continue to be used as a TE, or however the staff at Middleton wants to, but he could really bump his value down the road if he keeps an open mind to that idea. We have seen a ton of TEs switch to OL here in WI and then watched their recruiting stocks skyrocket. As for this season, I can’t wait to see how he continues to develop as a TE. Keep an eye on this one, coaches!
Landon Gauthier, LB- Bay Port (Landon’s Sophomore Highlights)
This dude can’t be a secret anymore. Landon already possesses prototypical size at 6’4″ 220 lbs for the OLB position. Honestly the most impressive part of his tape is that it starts with his success in pass coverage. You expect a kid with his tools to be successful at getting after the QB, but when that kid can also drop into coverage, look smooth while doing it, and generate turnovers or pass breakups then you have something different. Landon does just that. He is a well rounded, three down LB. He has proven that he can set the edge with strength, shed blocks, and make tackles against the run game at the line or behind it. We are in for a show this fall. Landon is going to be flying all over the field. Offenses are going to have to know where he is every snap.
