Rivera 6'2" | 195 lbs | QB Albuquerque Academy | 2023 State NM , one of the top players at his position in the state, was not available to the Chargers because he is vacationing with his family following his participation in several camps.
Rivera’s absence opened the door for somebody else to emerge as the night’s No. 1 star, and Highland sophomore QB Isai Herrera walked through. The tall, lanky southpaw fired the ball around the field to his receivers all night long, including a laser beam on one TD throw into the right corner of the end zone. After a difficult campaign in 2021, the Hornets appear to be on the comeback trail. They have numbers, a feisty coach, new enthusiasm and appear ready to make some noise in Class 5A.
