Weightlifting and Track Takes Center Stage

Plenty of events take place during the offseason for football. We get an opportunity to see how versatile the prospects are this time of year. With the weightlifting and track and field state championships taking place in Arkansas this past week, we were able to see plenty of football prospects participating in multiple sports. We are going to take a look at some of prospects that had impressive performances over the past few days. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="75066" first="Isaiah" last="Sategna"]-Wide Receiver-Fayetteville-2022</strong> The number one recruit in the state of Arkansas for the class of 2022 was able to close out his career in impressive fashion. Sategna captured 19 state track and field records to wind down his career with the Bulldogs. The Fayetteville boys and girls track team each took home state championships over the weekend. We will Sategna next suiting up for the Arkansas Razorbacks in the fall. Congratulations go out to him this weekend. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="93534" first="Adrian" last="Carranco"]-Wide Receiver-Beebe-2022</strong> [player_tooltip player_id="93534" first="Adrian" last="Carranco"] had a terrific 2021 football season. Many times, last season he was able to showcase his speed and athleticism on the football field. Carranco earned some hardware over the weekend as well. The explosive Beebe wide receiver won state championships in the triple jump and capped it off with a state championship in the 400-meter dash. In the fall, Carranco will be joining the Central Arkansas track and field program. Congratulations go out to Carranco! <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="250021" first="Tony" last="Wilkins"]-Wide Receiver-North Little Rock-2025</strong> The Charging Wildcats of North Little Rock are never at a shortage for dynamic athletes and that is true in the case of [player_tooltip player_id="250021" first="Tony" last="Wilkins"]. Wilkins showed off his speed this weekend taking first in the 200-meter dash. Wilkins is an intriguing prospect that North Little Rock coaches can line up all over the field. Folks should grow used to seeing Wilkins’ speed over the next few years he is going to have plenty of opportunities to showcase it on Friday nights in the future. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="149578" first="Bo" last="Williams"]-Running Back-Shiloh Christian-2024</strong> [player_tooltip player_id="149578" first="Bo" last="Williams"] is a dynamic running back that can take it the distance from anywhere on the field. The Shiloh Christian running back has had a busy off season. Williams displayed good power this weekend in taking first place in the state weightlifting championships in the 182 to 198-lbs weight range. He has already displayed the ability to make opposing defensive players miss. Adding a state championship in the offseason, has Williams preparing for the coming football season in impressive fashion. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="335632" first="Caden" last="Dougan"]-Offensive Line-Hoxie-2023</strong> Dougan sees action on both sides of the ball for Hoxie. The young man is a powerhouse that can take over a game with how he quickly gets into the offensive backfield. Meanwhile, his work on the offensive of the ball at the guard spot is impressive as well. Dougan earned a state championship at the state weightlifting competition. He is a prospect I am intrigued to watch as the 2022 football season approaches. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="172297" first="Jake" last="Brotherton"]-Offensive Line-Mena-2022</strong> The Mena offensive lineman is a powerhouse and does an impressive job of opening up rushing lanes. He has good footwork and quick feet. Brotherton had the opportunity to close out his senior year over the weekend by winning state championship in the 243-259-pound category. Brotherton has had a terrific career at Mena and congratulations go out to the Mena powerhouse for his performance over the weekend. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="158518" first="Jason" last="Patrick Jr"]-Linebacker-Prescott-2022</strong> The Southern Arkansas commit put on a show this past weekend at the state weightlifting championships. He earned a state championship for his weight category and in the process closed an impressive high school athletic career. Patrick Jr. is a linebacker that would swarm to the football and attack the offensive backfield. He has the potential to terrorize offenses throughout his college career. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="223616" first="Izic" last="Clenney"]-Linebacker-Lake Hamilton-2023</strong> [player_tooltip player_id="223616" first="Izic" last="Clenney"] is a linebacker that has no problem making a tackle. He is impressive with how he fends off blocks and gets into the offensive backfield. Clenney had a strong 2021 football season. He has since followed it up with a strong offseason in which he added some hardware to the trophy case. Clenney took home a state championship in his weight class over the weekend. Over the past two years, Lake Hamilton has put together a talented football team and I look for that trend to continue this season.
