We revealed our updated 2024 rankings on Monday. As always, the fresh rankings featured a considerable number of newcomers. In Part 2 of a series, here are 10 more additions to the rankings: [player_tooltip player_id="340329" first="Mateo" last="Baca"], Escalante: While Baca played on both sides of the ball last season as a sophomore, he made his greatest impact on defense as a free safety with 51 tackles, 3 QB hurries and 1 TFL. [player_tooltip player_id="340299" first="David" last="Beasley"], Centennial: Beasley is a major contributor in Centennial’s secondary, earning Second-Team All-District honors as a sophomore. This year, he’ll aim for First-Team honors. [player_tooltip player_id="340316" first="Joshua" last="Calhoon"], Estancia: Calhoon was Estancia’s No. 3 running back in 2021 and finished with 210 yards rushing on 39 carries. This season he’ll combine with dual threat QB [player_tooltip player_id="269575" first="Ja’Brae" last="Boyer"] to give Estancia formidable rushing attack. Calhoon added 27 tackles on defense. [player_tooltip player_id="340334" first="Seth" last="Dunlap"], Estancia: It’s not often you see a sophomore lead a high school football team in tackles but that’s what Dunlap did in 2021, totaling 49 tackles, 10 TFL, 4 forced fumbles and 1 sack in 8 games. In short, Dunlap was around the football a lot. [player_tooltip player_id="340305" first="Elijah" last="Garabedian"], Rio Rancho: It’s very difficult for sophomores to crack the two-deep depth chart at a prominent program like Rio Rancho, but Garabedian has been outstanding for the New Mexico Legacy 7x7 team this spring and looks to carry the momentum into preseason camp. [player_tooltip player_id="340325" first="Kevin" last="Garcia"], Eunice: The quarterback and top two rushers are graduating, so don’t be surprised if the defending Class 2A champions look to Garcia for an offensive boost this season. Garcia averaged 8.3 yards per rushing attempt and scored 1 TD in 2021. [player_tooltip player_id="340297" first="Daniel" last="Hernandez"], Centennial: Hernandez led the Centennial JV team to a fantastic season in 2021 and has the inside track to replacing the dynamic [player_tooltip player_id="26267" first="Ian" last="Lopez"] as the Hawk’s starting signal caller. If Hernandez doesn’t win the QB battle, he’ll play another position. Head coach Aaron Ocampo wants him on the field. [player_tooltip player_id="340327" first="Brandon" last="Houston"], Jal: Even though Jal loses our No. 1 2022 prospect, offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id="26228" first="Roger" last="Carreon"], the Panthers are loaded for the upcoming season, and Houston should be a major contributor on defense. He was Jal’s third leading tackler as a sophomore in 2021 with 57 tackles from his linebacker spot. He added 7 QB hurries. [player_tooltip player_id="340311" first="Ricky" last="Martinez"], West Mesa: Martinez has proven this spring with the New Mexico Heat 7x7 team that he’s one of the top young receivers in the Albuquerque Metro area. West Mesa returns [player_tooltip player_id="138047" first="Chris" last="Johnson"] and [player_tooltip player_id="26249" first="Tim" last="Drennan"] at WR and could add [player_tooltip player_id="275488" first="Elijah" last="Brody"], son of the Mustangs’ new head coach, at quarterback. If they do, the West Mesa offense will be must-see football every week. Julein Montano, Centennial: Montano returns as a starter for the Hawks in the trenches. His best position is probably defensive end and he has two more seasons to perfect his craft. He’s already 6-foot-2, 190 pounds and will keep growing. By the time he’s a senior in 2023, he could be a major prospect. https://twitter.com/davembeasley15/status/1459983510295351296 https://twitter.com/NewMexicoLegacy/status/1506110609053474817 https://twitter.com/rickymtz11_/status/1523649666511884288 https://twitter.com/JuleinMontano21/status/1527468791210205184
