Talent came in from everywhere, showing just how far Philly’s Finest has come in the 7v7 circuit. The well-run camp and organization is an annual must for scouts such as myself. Connecticut and New Jersey were represented at the event along with numerous Pennsylvania programs.
In this piece, we will breakdown some new names out of the Roman 7v7 program that caught my eye from Day one.
Jonathan Ingram Jonathan Ingram 6'1" | 175 lbs | QB Cheltenham | 2024 State PA | 6’1, 175 | QB | 2024
Jonathan Ingram Jonathan Ingram 6'1" | 175 lbs | QB Cheltenham | 2024 State PA ’s development resumes as the sophomore QB continues to grow both in a height and weight, while continuing to work and progress in Roman’s passing game. Ingram seems to be more and more confident in his reads and decision-making the more time and effort he puts in. A sign that he is holding himself accountable. Deadly accurate in the short/intermediate game. Release and footwork still look sharp. Ingram’s stock should skyrocket this Fall.
Tyseer Denmark Tyseer Denmark 5'11" | 180 lbs | WR Imhotep Charter | 2024 State PA | 5’11, 180 | WR/DB | 2024
Always nice to have elite prospects out at events like this. Denmark’s skill set is a gauge for the rest of the kids at the event. This young man sets the bar highest on all things athleticism. If any one prospect is producing against this program or Denmark, you know that player is legit, because Denmark sets the standard. As far as his performance goes, Denmark was as dominant as he wants to be. Toying with defenders in open space, separating at will, high pointing over players much taller than he is. This is the usual for this elite prospect. Enjoyed seeing him go to work.
Mikey Preston Mikey Preston 5'11" | 170 lbs | DB Roman Catholic | 2024 State PA | 5’10, 165 | DB | 2024
Jah Jah Boyd | 5’9, 160 | WR | 2024
Mao Howell Mao Howell RB Roman Catholic | 2023 State PA | ATH | 2023
When I think of Roman, I think of their absurd stable of talented yet versatile defensive backs. The trio of Mikey Preston Mikey Preston 5'11" | 170 lbs | DB Roman Catholic | 2024 State PA , Mao Howell Mao Howell RB Roman Catholic | 2023 State PA & Jah Jah Boyd exemplify this. Boyd and Howell are heavy on the versatility side, as both can contribute on either side of the ball in this setting or with pads on. Both of these prospects made plays all over the field, proving they both deserve true “ATH” designations.
Mikey Preston Mikey Preston 5'11" | 170 lbs | DB Roman Catholic | 2024 State PA is a bit closer to the pure press/man corner, yet his athleticism and ball skills were on full display as well. Anyone who is matching up with Tyseer Denmark Tyseer Denmark 5'11" | 180 lbs | WR Imhotep Charter | 2024 State PA at practice deserves some love. Preston is well on his way to becoming one of the top cover corners in his class.
Julian Green | 6’1, 170 | DB/ATH | 2025
Julian Green is on the same path as Mikey Preston Mikey Preston 5'11" | 170 lbs | DB Roman Catholic | 2024 State PA , a path that has led to multiple Power 5 offers early on in his career at Roman. I was put on to Green earlier in the year by Roman Catholic’s Head Coach. This young man is every bit of a coach’s ideal make-up at corner. 6’1, long limbed, 170 pounds, all as a freshman. His replicable backpedal, hand use and build left Boston College and West Virginia impressed. There is no limit to this prospects potential.
I am truly beyond blessed and thankful to receive an offer from West Virginia University💙💛!! #TrustTheClimb @RomanCatholicHC @NextLevelQBs @EdOBrienCFB @RivalsFriedman @BrianDohn247 pic.twitter.com/tXmd2XROWR
