[player_tooltip player_id="165716" first="Jake" last="Merklinger"] - Calvary Day
The top-ranked QB in Georgia for the 2024 class, the Savannah native out of Calvary Day comes in at No. 12 in the newest rankings. One of the top young sophomores quarterbacks across the country, Merklinger had a breakout year as a sophomore last fall, showing really impressive poise and accuracy for someone his age. He completed 70% of his passes this year, and impressive number for anyone, much less a young sophomore. He made good decisions with the ball, throwing for 25 touchdowns to just 8 INTs. He commanded the offense and ran it well all season, making good decisions while showing off a big arm. He’s someone who can win games with his arm, and he lead Calvary Day to a 12-1 record last season. He also added just under 300 rushing yards and 11 more touchdowns, showing he’s a threat with his legs as well. The 2024 star has great footwork in the pocket, can extend plays, and shows big-play ability. He’s an easy D1 caliber quarterback and he already holds offers from Auburn, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, among others.
[player_tooltip player_id="251827" first="Luke" last="Kromenhoek"] – Benedictine
Ranked as the No. 6 QB prospect in Georgia according to Prep Redzone, Kromenhoek is one of the top young QBs in the Savannah area. The early Florida State commitment is a natural passer with size and mobility at 6-foot-4 185-pounds. He has a strong arm, but he can be deadly when running the football. He’s a solid athlete who also stars on the baseball diamond, but it’s easy to see his potential at quarterback. He throws with touch, can push the ball down the field, and shows consistent accuracy on his passes. What impresses the most is his ability to take off and run with the ball. Even as a sophomore, the Benedictine star showed plenty of speed and the ability to shred defenses with his legs. He has the size, promising arm talent, and has the ability to run, making him a promising prospect. He was the backup to Auburn QB signee [player_tooltip player_id="33932" first="Holden" last="Geriner"] last season, but now it’s Kromenhoek’s turn to run the offense for the Cadets, and we expect him to have a giant season.
[player_tooltip player_id="137481" first="Christopher" last="Martin"] - Lee County
The Lee County Trojans are always loaded with talent, and they have a D1-caliber QB on their hands in [player_tooltip player_id="137481" first="Christopher" last="Martin"] who is coming off an impressive sophomore season. Leading the Trojans deep into the playoffs last year, Martin played like an experienced veteran, throwing a catchable pass and playmaking ability every night. He reads the field well, shows good footwork in the pocket, and knows what to do with the football. He throws well on the run and showed good ball placement last season. He does a good job of putting the ball in a position where his receiver can make a play on it. He’s a good athlete and puts nice touch of balls down the field. The 6-foot-1 185-pounder holds an offer from Troy, and more could be on the way soon.
[player_tooltip player_id="325151" first="Neko" last="Fann"] – Colquit County
Colquitt County is one of the biggest and well-known programs in Georgia, and they have a big-time playmaker at quarterback in rising junior, [player_tooltip player_id="325151" first="Neko" last="Fann"]. Fann had a big sophomore season for the Packers this year, showing his big arm and ability to lead an offense. He took care of the ball very well for a young player, tossing 29 TDs to just 5 INTs. He’s someone who played better and better as the season went on, and as his arm continues to develop, Fann’s stock will continue to rise. He’s an excellent runner, showing burst and acceleration when he gets through the line of scrimmage. He throws the ball well down the field and does a good job of hitting his receivers in stride. He distributes the ball well and will have plenty of weapons to throw too in 2022. Look for him to have a giant junior season in hopes of leading the Packers back to the state championship game.
