It’s always good to see some of our instate-sleepers finally get some much-deserved attention- we decided to take a look at some of our recent risers in the recruiting world!
Brandon White-DE |6’5 220| |Bob Jones| @bwhite_06 on Twitter
Brandon White has been a really productive player for Bob Jones in the trenches, he’s spent time at both OT and DE throughout his career but really shines on the defensive line. White uses his size and strength greatly to his advantage, often he can be seen on tape bull-rushing offensive linemen to generate tons of pressure on the passer, consistently affecting plays. Against the run, White demonstrates great pursuit and tackling ability on the ball carrier. Overall, Brandon White is a really well-rounded defensive lineman with a ton to offer, and teams are finally beginning to notice. White recently received his first offer from Southern Illinois and looks to add more heading into his junior season this fall.
[player_tooltip player_id="137213" first="Jalin" last="Edwards"]-EDGE |6’3 220| |Grissom| @e_therealj on Twitter
We first laid our eyes on [player_tooltip player_id="137213" first="Jalin" last="Edwards"] back last winter when creating an edition of our Film Submission series, and it’s looking like collegiate programs finally are as well. Edwards is a versatile EDGE that has been a big leader of Grissom’s defense the last two years. Edwards is dominant against the pass, largely due to his rapid fast hands and pass-rush technique- rarely do offensive linemen have the time to react to him, he effortlessly flies through whoever is trying to block him. Against the run, Edwards is just as gifted- he has great play recognition and pursuit that allows him to quickly react to the ball carrier to make the tackle. Last week, Edwards received his first offer from Arkansas State, and with what he has shown on film as a freshman/sophomore, expect to see more offers come along this fall.
Jonathan Allen-DL |6’3 265| |Jackson-Olin| @JonathanA12k on Twitter
Jonathan Allen is a talented defensive lineman for Jackson-Olin, and he caused chaos in the trenches alongside Jordan Crawford last fall. Allen put up some great stats last year, totaling up 55 tackles(7 for loss), and 7 sacks, with one forced fumble and touchdown on the season- proving to be a dominant playmaker on the defensive line. Allen has a ton of power, acceleration, and strength that have made him an outright problem for opposing offensive linemen. Allen consistently generates pressure and finds himself around the ball, allowing him to make a ton of big-time plays for his defense. Recently, many programs have taken notice of Allen’s talents, with programs like Alabama A&M, Middle Tennessee State, Georgia State, Austin Peay, and others sending offers his way.
[player_tooltip player_id="128200" first="Brennan" last="Tormey"]-TE |6’7 235| |Pike Road| @TormeyBrennan on Twitter
After spending the first three years of his career at Ezekiel Academy, Brandon Tormey, a very productive TE, has transferred to the reigning 5A State Champions Pike Road- and he is going to make an instant impact on that offense. Standing at 6’7 235 with super long arms, Tormey certainly has the build and hands to be a reliable target, and those paired with the rare speed and route running capabilities he possesses make him a vertical threat downfield. In addition to that, Tormey blocks super well, he has the power and physicality to manhandle defenders both on passing and rushing plays. [player_tooltip player_id="128200" first="Brennan" last="Tormey"] is a hidden gem in the state, and with Furman sending an offer his way late last week expect to see more head his way soon.
