New players emerged in the latest update, and there are plenty of rising sophomore linebackers who are starting to make a name for themselves across Georgia. Here are some linebackers who have seen their stock rise in recent weeks and in the latest 2025 Prep Redzone Georgia Rankings.
Zayden Walker – RB – Schley County
Ranked No. 1 and the top-overall prospect in the state, Walker is a dynamic linebacker who can also run through you as a running back. Walker absolutely dominated as a freshman on both sides of the ball in rural Georgia this fall and has already become a nationally-known prospect. He’s incredibly quick and physical for his age and appeared to be playing on a different level all year. As a runner, Walker rushed for over 1,000 yards and 18 touchdowns. Defensively, Walker made 39 tackles, 16 TFLs and 4.5 sacks. He does it all for Schley County, and he made it look easy all season. The 6-foot-3 220-pounder also impressed in last December’s Georgia Elite Classic game where he came up with a big INT from his linebacker spot. He’s physical, instinctive, and has the look of a future All-American linebacker. He’s a fun player to watch, and he has 5-star written all over him in the 2025 class.
Jadon Perlotte Jadon Perlotte 6'4" | 215 lbs | LB Buford | 2025 State GA – EDGE – Buford
The No. 2 linebacker prospect in Georgia and No, 13 overall, Perlotte is bound for a breakout sophomore season for the Wolves in 2022. Another explosive young defender, Peroltte appears athletic for his age and has a nice frame as well at 6-foot-3 200-pounds. Playing on a loaded roster, Perlotte stood out among the upperclassmen during a Buford spring practice this month. He’s a versatile defender who can line up in a number of different positions right now including linebacker, safety, and EDGE. He gets after the passer and showed he can help in coverage as well. He reads the play well, reacts quickly for his age, and knows how to wrap up properly when making a tackle. He plays hard, and it’s easy to see the potential he has over the next few seasons. Perlotte already holds offers from Georgia, Auburn, Oregon, Miami, among others.
Mantrez Walker Mantrez Walker 6'1" | 210 lbs | LB Buford | 2025 State GA – Buford
Another tough, hard-hitting linebacker out of Buford, Walker’s size may not blow you away, but he has the potential to have an impactful season for the Wolves as a sophomore. He moves well, can dissect plays before they happen, and can play either outside or the middle of the field. He loves contact and he’s one of the hardest hitters in the area for the 2025 class. He attacks the ball carrier and plays with good pursuit. He does a nice job of getting around blocks and always finds himself around the ball. He’s a D1-caliber linebacker and already holds an offer from Arkansas. Look for more offers to come his way once he makes more of an impact at the varsity level. Walker is ranked as the No. 3 linebacker in the state for the 2025 class.
