Here are the best of the best, offensive and defensive 1st-team selections from our Prep Redzone Prospect Camp this past weekend. Many names were left out of both 1st and 2nd teams.
<span style="text-decoration: underline; font-size: 18pt;"><strong>2nd-Team Defense</strong></span>
<span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Defensive Line</strong></span>
<ol>
<li><em><strong>Carter Hess | 6’1, 285 | FHHS | 2024 </strong></em></li>
<li><em><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="256005" first="Josh" last="Angelo"] | 6’0, 245 | East Pennsboro | 2024 </strong></em></li>
<li><em><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="164602" first="Colin" last="Riley"] | 6’0, 250 | WC Rustin | 2024 </strong></em></li>
<li><em><strong>Michael Hershey | 6’5, 240 | Spring Grove | 2024</strong></em></li>
<li><em><strong>Yasin Lowry | 6’0, 204 | Archbishop Wood | 2025 </strong></em></li>
</ol>
The offensive and defensive line group from this camp put on a show. So much so we had to extend our usual 5v5 top performers to 10v10. Even now, this list leaves off I’zhior Moon, Da’Ron Goodwine and [player_tooltip player_id="142828" first="Koren" last="Robinson"], three prospects who still performed well but didn’t make this list. Each prospect on our 2nd-Team defensive line is an underclassmen. All five of these prospects have a ton of improvement left in their games, happy to see each one make an impression on the coaching staffs in attendance.
Can make the case that [player_tooltip player_id="256005" first="Josh" last="Angelo"] was the best tester out of this group, posting a 4.67 40 time along with a 8’9 broad standing at 6 feet tall.
<span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Linebackers</strong></span>
<ol>
<li><em><strong>Tyler Hurst | 5’10, 199 | Garden Spot | 2023</strong></em></li>
<li><em><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="248794" first="Emanuel" last="Mason"] | 6’1, 209 | Lebanon | 2023 </strong></em></li>
<li><em><strong>Karon Pearson | 5’11, 195 | Catonsville | 2023</strong></em></li>
</ol>
Tyler Hurst, who has plenty of DL reps on tape, came out and tested at linebacker. Hurst posted a 4.79 40 time, along with a solid 4.47 Shuttle and 9’1 broad. All are numbers that aren’t going to blow anyone away, but certainly numbers that I am impressed with considering I am not too familiar with his game. [player_tooltip player_id="248794" first="Emanuel" last="Mason"] and Karon Pearson also opened some eyes at the linebacker position.
<span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Defensive Backs</strong></span>
<ol>
<li><em><strong>Saxton Suchanic | 6’2, 175 | Central York | 2025</strong></em></li>
<li><em><strong>Noah Rice | 5’10, 160 | BMC | 2023</strong></em></li>
<li><em><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="248345" first="Malachi" last="Generette"] | 5’9, 172 | Archbishop Wood | 2023 </strong></em></li>
<li><em><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="255052" first="D’andre" last="Cochran"] | 5’7, 142 | Penn Hills | 2024</strong></em></li>
<li><em><strong>Solomon Flowers | 5’11, 167 | Monroe-Woodbury | 2023 </strong></em></li>
</ol>
Noah Rice and [player_tooltip player_id="255052" first="D’andre" last="Cochran"]’s testing numbers:
Rice: 4.71 40, 3.97 Shuttle, 9’6 Broad, 7.68 L
Cochran: 4,61 40, 4,38 Shuttle, 8’4 Broad, 7.01 L
Suchanic, Generette, and Flowers all fit the long, lanky, prototypical build that you want to see at defensive back. Generette may be slightly undersized but didn’t let that be known during 1v1s, super competitive player. Suchanic has a very good case to be a top performer from this camp. He tested just as well as Rice and Cochran, while also showing off his length and size during 1v1s. I’m okay saying Suchanic deserves top performer honors along with the 1st-team DBs.
