The offseason is winding down, and I’ll be heading up to Oscoda for my summer job in one week! I think it’s a great time to highlight the best offseasons I saw throughout Michigan. This All-Winter team includes mostly athletes I had interactions with, and this is based on the body of work and amount of improvement I saw this Winter/Early Spring.
QB - [player_tooltip player_id="188030" first="Connor" last="Wolf"]
I don’t know if there was a week where I didn’t hear about [player_tooltip player_id="188030" first="Connor" last="Wolf"]. The Grand Rapids Catholic Central QB impressed at just about every camp he attended this offseason, and he has insanely high expectations heading into the 2022 season.
QB - [player_tooltip player_id="216997" first="Alex" last="Bueno"]
I got to see Bueno at the Prep Redzone Prospect Showcase, and he performed extremely well. A few coaches didn’t know who he was before the combine, but he made a lasting impression on everyone. His testing was off the charts, as he led the QBs in most areas, while his IQ and throwing ability were top-tier.
RB - [player_tooltip player_id="159621" first="Timmy" last="Kloska"]
Kloska is coming off a historic season at West Catholic as he tore apart the defenses of the OK-Blue. He’s been putting in very long hours at the gym while eating right, and overall, he’s dedicated to his body and craft. Kloska and West Catholic as a whole should tear through most of the OK-Blue once again, but the playoffs are where Kloska can improve his stock!
RB - [player_tooltip player_id="323501" first="Cameron" last="Broadnax"]
The RB MVP of the Prospect Showcase, Broadnax, proved he’s among the best young RBs in Michigan. All around, he tested great and competed even better. Bright future for Broadnax and River Rouge as a whole.
WR - [player_tooltip player_id="162651" first="Semaj" last="Josiah Morgan"]
Out of all the "Elite" receivers, I heard the least amount of talk and saw the most amount of work from Semaj Morgan. The future Wolverine showcased his skills all across the country, and he embodied what it means to be a Division 1 Prospect.
WR - [player_tooltip player_id="340967" first="Connor" last="ORourke"]
One of the best performing WRs at the Prospect Showcase, ORourke turned many heads. Just a freshman, [player_tooltip player_id="340967" first="Connor" last="ORourke"] is serious about his game and was very busy this Winter. Very interested to see how he develops through the years.
WR - [player_tooltip player_id="232201" first="Alex" last="McLean"]
McLean balled out last season for Rockford, and he’s been putting in the work to continue producing at a high level. His consistent work at PowerStrength is why he’s on this list, in addition to two Division II offers from Grand Valley State and Northwood.
OL - [player_tooltip player_id="80952" first="Ryan" last="Ross"]
One of the busiest and best-traveled players I saw, [player_tooltip player_id="80952" first="Ryan" last="Ross"], was straight-up dominant at the Showcase and deserves all his recognition.
OL - [player_tooltip player_id="248815" first="Davonta" last="Love"]
Love has had a phenomenal offseason attending many camps, traveling well, and performing amazingly. He’s recently picked up his first big offer from Bowling Green, and I am confident there’s plenty more to come from Mr. Love.
OL - [player_tooltip player_id="227296" first="Jacob" last="Kropchak"]
Although I didn’t personally see Kropchak this offseason, his performances were all over Twitter. He played the part of an elite Offensive Lineman as he didn’t shy away from competition and hard work.
OL - [player_tooltip player_id="249818" first="Evan" last="Curtiss"]
Curtiss has been working very hard this offseason, capitalizing on his sky-high potential. Curtiss is a phenomenal, strong run blocker who can pancake most linemen, but his pass sets can be sloppy. He’s been working hard on his pass blocking this offseason, and if he can improve in that department
OL - [player_tooltip player_id="243090" first="Sam" last="Wahlberg"]
I didn’t see Wahlberg this offseason, but his recent Tweets show significant improvement in the weight room and some technical work. Playing for Mona Shores, Wahlberg is in the honorable position of being a senior leader in one of the most successful programs in the state.
