Braylon Burnside Braylon Burnside 6'1" | 180 lbs | ATH Starkville | 2024 State MS | Starkville
The playmaker from Starkville almost surely projects as a deep-threat wide out at the next level, but for the time being we will leave him as a true ATH. Burnside projects as one of, if not the, top prospect for the class of 2024, where he is following the likes of former Starkville High School greats like A.J. Brown and Rufus Harvey. “Stonka” will be feasting on 6A defenses for two more years even after his breakout sophomore campaign that saw him average over 17 yards per reception. Above average speed and athletic makeup. Good hands. Crisp route runner with ease thru breaks. Nicely framed with room to grow. Picking up Power 5 offers led by in-state schools Mississippi State and Ole Miss.
Terry Patton Jr. | Pass Christian
Size doesn’t wow with Patton but doesn’t limit him as a slot wide receiver, which is an accurate projection to the next level. The rising junior plays with technical poise and has a good understanding of how to position himself physically to make plays. Great body control gives him an added athletic boost.Wildly advanced as a route runner given his age. Plays with length even at around the 5″11 range. Shows speed that allows him to slip in behind defenders unexpectedly. Potential to be heavily involved in a multi-faceted offense, as well as on special teams. Some verified numbers thru the spring/summer could prove important. Power 5 upside is present.
Jay Ulmer Jay Ulmer 5'10" | 160 lbs | ATH Mendenhall | 2024 State MS | Mendenhall
The current feel with Ulmer is that he best projects as a handsy, pesky corner at the next level. With two years left to grow things could change, but his best film is by far on that side of the ball. As a sophomore Mendenhall got production from the youngster on both sides of the ball. Good straight line speed pops off film as does his disruptive nature in pass coverage. As he refines mentally and technically he could develop into a solid corner. Ulmer is currently seen as a developmental piece but the glimpses of the needed tools are there.
Shamaar Darden Shamaar Darden 6'1" | 170 lbs | ATH Tupelo | 2024 State MS | Tupelo
Darden is another guy that worked himself into some action under the 6A lights as a young guy. Projection is at DB as he gets ready to move into his junior year and take on a much bigger role. Some FCS and group of 5 interest is already showing due to his athletic intangibles. Darden looks the part of a college DB in the 6″1 165lb range with true length. Breakout player potentially in Northeast MS.
