Although the one-point (21-20) setback to eventual 8A state champion Venice was damaging in the national picture, it was the two-point (21-19) setback against Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons in the 4A state title game that ended the year and plenty of dreams for this program. What this team has become is a true state power – standing toe-to-toe against the best as they showed in 2021 – with one of the toughest schedules in the state. The Tigers and this impressive coaching staff knocked off 8A state powers Vero Beach (42-41), Kissimmee Osceola (21-20), Port St. Lucie Treasure Coast (56-55), and Orlando Dr. Phillips (19-15) – as well as Port Orange Spruce Creek (27-14), Viera (39-14), Lake Minneola (42-6) and rival Rockledge (20-14) in the regular season, and Bushnell South Sumter (41-0), The Villages (54-21) and Jacksonville Bolles (35-24) in the state playoffs. This program is loaded once again and will be a huge favorite to be in the national mix as well as in the state of Florida.
