The Wide Receivers at the All-Northeast were a sight to see. This group was strong from top to bottom, featuring serious talent from the Empire State. Every WR who competed gained maximum reps. The competition was full throttle, with the Wide Outs and Defensive Backs battling for what seemed to be hours long. The Wide Receiver core featured top-notch detailed instruction from Coach Mike Vannucci and Coach Overton, who spent 12 hours of dedicated coaching. Although no longer in New York, St. Thomas Moore (Connecticut) [player_tooltip player_id="226968" first="Zion" last="Tracy"] 2023 had a huge day running a top 22.7 MPH and winning what seemed to be every matchup. He is an absolute blazer and displayed just about every type of release off the line. He is a player who can get behind just about anyone and make critical adjustments when he does have to wait on any underthrows. [player_tooltip player_id="233606" first="Jean" last="Louis III"] 2023 Jean showed up and showed out. I was anxious to see him in person, and he didn’t disappoint. He is always smooth and makes everything look easy on his routes to how he can control his body. His slide releases looked like he was gliding, and he does a great job at stacking the defensive backs and getting separation at the top. Jean is a complete receiver with an arsenal of crafty setups, and his hands were solid. Louis III is already holding offers from Temple, Central Michigan, and a handful of others. [player_tooltip player_id="233650" first="Jayson" last="Zeva"] 2023 Someone who made the most of the opportunity at the event was Zeva. The quiet killer had a great day going against the top competition and in front of many college coaches. He was consistent getting separation and could decelerate and drop to anywhere he wanted to go. Off the line, he is aware and is quick. I didn’t see anyone that was able to press Jayson with his variety of releases. Zeva was in rhythm with his slide releases and patient when working with other WRs en route, allowing them to clear out, causing uncertainty for a successful reception. Jayson, by most accounts, was one of the top performers at the event. He doesn’t have any offers yet and is a 4.0 student. Jayson is an absolute steal for any program. [player_tooltip player_id="273470" first="Nicholas" last="Matos"] 2023 Watching Matos, he appeared as a good mix of size and speed. He physically looks impressive and is part of the never-ending St. Anthony’s offensive arsenal. Matos doesn’t waste any time getting off the line with his speed releases and was efficient on what appeared to be rocker steps when getting separation. I liked his receptions against some of the bigger Defensive Backs where he had to adjust on shorter throws where you could see his body control and focus. [player_tooltip player_id="235900" first="Michael" last="Senatore Jr"] 2023 Senatore ran a blazing 21.21 MPH in the Athletics Westchester testing component of the event. Besides being a true burner, Michael had an impressive showing displaying consistent crisp routes and sure hands. His footwork was efficient coming off the line with slide releases, and his speed would take over, pulling away at the top. I expect a big senior season for Senator Jr, especially with [player_tooltip player_id="233599" first="Ajani" last="Sheppard"] throwing to him. [player_tooltip player_id="339892" first="Torance" last="Washington Jr"] 2023 Washington is another player that took full advantage of the event. He got to compete against a group of talented Defensive Backs from all over. Torance can drop and cut instantly, putting his foot down with purpose and selling whatever he wants. During the 1-on-1s, he did notch some highlight routes on some talented Defensive Backs. He is a dynamic and dangerous player. [player_tooltip player_id="339891" first="Morgan" last="Taliefero"] 2023 Morgan is a player who I really like at Defensive Back and still do, but he flashed at Wide Receiver for the showcase. He made a spectacular catch with tight coverage from a top DB. Morgan appeared as a crafty veteran with his releases and ability to decelerate and instantly pick back up. Taliefero at WR was a pleasant surprise for me, and I was impressed with how he performed against tough competition. I think he is going to have a huge year. [player_tooltip player_id="232921" first="Dylan" last="Evans"] 2023 Dylan is a player that I have watched a lot on film, so I was finally happy to see him perform in person. He is a bigger framed Wide Receiver, and I was curious to see how he could move in drill work and how he would handle a physical defensive player’s press. Dylan displayed some effective stick jab style releases allowing him to get separation. He does have strong hands, and I didn’t see any double catches during drill work. I expect him to continue to work toward perfecting his craft as he is a touchdown machine during the season. [player_tooltip player_id="339893" first="Timothy" last="Longo"] 2023 Longo is another member of St.Anthony’s offensive attack. He doesn’t have the measurements like the other St. Anthonys Wide Receivers, but he had an impressive showing. Longo was consistent all the time I saw and made some great grabs against tight coverage. I look forward to watching him this coming season as I am sure he is an absolute headache in the slot. [player_tooltip player_id="269081" first="Anthony" last="Gentile"] 2023 Anthony is a Wide Receiver who looks physically impressive. He holds his muscle well and has a powerful build. When watching Gentile, I saw him succeed in a lot of the short to intermediate routes. I thought he did a good job of attacking and making square cuts to get separation. [player_tooltip player_id="241137" first="Jaylin" last="Ballew"] 2024 Ballew is a Tight End Wide Receiver hybrid, but I watched him compete at WR. He was able to get behind and stack Defensive Backs, which was impressive especially considering he is also used at TE. He has good awareness and made adjustments on some underthrown balls. It would be tough to find a Linebacker that could line up on Ballew in space. Ballew is a serious hybrid weapon for Erasmus Hall and has already gained interest and offers from national programs like Ole Miss and Tennesee, to name a couple.
