Its not hard to see why the SIC has some of the top teams in the state of Idaho every year with an abundance of talent coming in and out of each program. This year will be no different with not only some of the top players in the Valley but also some of the top players in the state as to who will come out as the 5A Offensive Player of the Year. Here are some of the top prospects that should be vying for the prestigious award:
WR Ian Duarte Ian Duarte 5'8" | 170 lbs | WR Eagle HS | 2023 State ID – Eagle High School, 2023
Duarte lit up the SIC last year after transferring from California. Known for his dynamic speed, Duarte was able to make a big impact for the Mustangs last year. To the tune of 69 receptions for 1,162 yards, he is going to be tops in the state again in receiving. Not only can Duarte catch the football but he also is a dangerous return man who threatens teams on special teams. Statistically look for Duarte’s name to be in the media quite a bit this upcoming season.
RB Art Williams – Rocky Mountain High School, 2023
Arguably the top running back returning in the conference, Williams is primed to have a break out season in his senior year. Doing the majority of his work between the tackles look for Williams to show more explosive speed after returning this off season. Playing behind one of the best offensive line groups in the state Williams will be able to team his talent with the work horses up front in order to put himself in position to win the best offensive player in the SIC.
RB Marco Del Rio – Meridian High School, 2024
Del Rio sat behind one of the top backs in the conference last year for meridian as a sophomore but when it was his turn to touch the football all he did was turn heads. Racking up 511 yards on 57 carries for 10 touchdowns, Del Rio should double those numbers this year as the feature back for the Warriors. Used primarily on the edge last year because of his blinding speed look for Del Rio to show everyone he is more than a speed back as it is his turn to lead the Warriors rushing attack this year.
QB Dawson Wahl Dawson Wahl 6'4" | 190 lbs | QB Mountain View HS | 2023 State ID – Mountain View High School, 2023
The states top signal caller will look to put up monster numbers this season as he and the Mavericks look to shake off their playoff defeat. Wahl was a beacon of consistency throughout his junior year throwing for 1612 yards, 16 touchdowns and completing 61 percent of his passes in a run dominated offense. Wahl should be one of the top throwers week in and week out during this season. Don’t be surprised to see him lead the majority of passers this year in a number of categories.
QB Tegan Sweaney Tegan Sweaney 6'3" | 190 lbs | QB Rocky Mountain | 2023 State ID – Rocky Mountain High School, 2023
The leader of one of the top programs in the state, Sweaney is looking to build off a solid junior season. After leading his team to the playoffs last year, Sweaney will be looking to push Rocky back into state contention. With a host of weapons at his disposal Sweaney should be in the top of the conference in every statistical category. Not only will he be one of the top passers but look for him to be in the stat sheet when it comes to running the football as he can hurt teams with his legs and his arm.

TE CJ Jacobsen CJ Jacobsen 6'5" | 230 lbs | TE Rocky Mountain HS | 2023 State ID – Rocky Mountain High School, 2023
