Here we take a look at the conference player of the year candidates within the 4A KingCo heading into next season. Year in and year out it’s some of the best football played on the west coast. Have a look at the top kids returning next season on both O and D.
OFFENSE

[player_tooltip player_id="155550" first="TJ" last="Crandall"] ATH Skyline 23’- The 3* athlete was a 1st team all-league CB but also excelled on offense, earning 2nd team accolades. Heading into next year he may be the most versatile kid in the conference.
[player_tooltip player_id="333731" first="Owen" last="Coomes"] G/DL Eastlake 23’- The reigning lineman of the year within the conference earned 1st team accolades on both sides of the football. One of the only underclassmen in WA to do so. The 6-3 245-pound very versatile athlete made a statement, racking up the award as a Junior over the likes of Ozaeta and others.
[player_tooltip player_id="333684" first="Jani" last="Weir"] ATH Skyline 23’- One of the most dangerous athletes in the state when in space. The 5-9 155 pound 3* talent will combo nicely with Crandall. His Twitter header summarizes things well, "Nobody cares, work harder".
[player_tooltip player_id="202532" first="Bryce" last="Kooy"] RB Bothell 23’- One of the more underrated kids in WA in my opinion. Kooy has good size and speed and performed well enough to be the only underclass skill kid, selected 1st team all-conference in the 4A KingCo.
[player_tooltip player_id="87413" first="Heath" last="Ozaeta"] T/DL Mount Si 23’ - One of the top linemen in the country for his class. The 3* recruit holds close to 20 division 1 offers after earning 1st team all league honors on O and 2nd team on D. We will see if he can garner conference POY accolades next season, after fellow junior [player_tooltip player_id="333731" first="Owen" last="Coomes"] won the award last year.
[player_tooltip player_id="115333" first="Beau" last="Phillips"] ATH Mount Si 24’- Hands down one of the most exciting athletes in Washington. The 5-10 180-pound athlete, earned 2nd team all-conference honors from his CB spot, but averaged over 100 yards per game on O and 37 yards per return. Look for him to have an unreal junior year offensively.
[player_tooltip player_id="333729" first="Pryce" last="Roberts"] T Woodinville 23’- The 6-5 275-pound tackle has a stock that is rising quickly, recently landing his first D1 offer from Portland St. His size speaks for itself as he will most likely continue to add offers.
Stephen Woodward TE/LB North Creek 23’- Woodward was a big reason North Creek made the playoffs for the first time in school history. The 6-3 215 pounder caught 38 passes for 408 yards and 7 TDs while racking up 2nd team accolades on both sides of the football.
Cody Petrin WR Bothell 23’- Look for a big year offensively out of Petrin as he will rarely come off the field. He will rank as one of the top safeties in WA for 2023, but can also play some O, earning honorable mention all-conference honors there as well.
[player_tooltip player_id="333688" first="Lucas" last="Freitas"] OL/DL Mount Si 23’- This kid could blow up in the coming months. He has ideal size (6-5 285) and impressed on both sides of the football last season, earning 2nd team honors on O. Definitely one of the more versatile linemen in WA.
