Ahead of the 2022 season, we take a look at which Forsyth County prospects are ready to become impact players.
ATH – Will Moffit – 2024 – 5’11 – East Forsyth
“Athlete” is the perfect way to describe Moffit. Not only does he happen to be a baseball standout, but he was also all over the field for Easy Forsyth last year and was the definition of a swiss army knife player. Moffit made most of his impact as a runner, where he rushed for 461 yards on 113 carries. However, he was also an impact player in the passing game and on the defensive side of the ball, where he came away with a pick-six during the season. Used mostly at the QB spot as a runner, Moffit showcases some serious ability to run the ball. He has great vision paired with great speed, which allows him to create separation from defenders and make the right reads in the read-option game. On top of that, he is also a physical runner who fights through contact for extra yards. He has shown some ability to push the ball downfield with his arm, but it’s with his legs where he can really make the biggest impact. Last season was the inaugural season for East, so there are plenty of players that are still growing into their roles. Moffit was the most productive player on the team last year, but his ceiling suggests that an even bigger season is on the horizon for the rising junior.
ATH – Chris Nelson Chris Nelson 5'8" | 160 lbs | WR South Forsyth | 2023 State GA – 2023 – 5’9 – South Forsyth
Nelson is another true athlete that excels in two sports and makes his mark all over the field. Hovering around 5’9 155 pounds, Nelson might lack the ideal size that D1 coaches look for. But he makes up for it with his elite track-level speed. In 2021, Nelson had over 600 receiving yards, but he also made plays on the defensive side of the ball and on special teams. With the ball in his hands, Nelson is a threat to score at any given time. His elite straight-line speed allows him to create separation and run away from the defense, and his quick feet make him almost impossible to keep in front of you, whether that is with the ball in his hands or him getting into his route. While Nelson’s speed is what draws most eyes to him, he is a surprisingly physical player that can be seen on film going over defenders to win jump balls. All in all, Nelson’s speed alone is a reason to keep tracking him. With an offer in from Georgia State recently, it feels like a matter of time before Nelson blows up on the gridiron.
OL – Kobe Jones – 2024 – 6’4 – Denmark
Last season on Johns Creek, Jones showed plenty of promise and upside as an offensive lineman. Standing at around 6’4 315 as a sophomore, it was clear that Jones was easily the biggest and most physically demanding player on the field every game. On tape, Jones plays about the way you would expect him to. He uses his large frame and brute strength to create a big-time push from the interior of the OL. He wasn’t the fastest or most athletic offensive lineman on film, but he is coming off a big offseason where he shed nearly 40 pounds and is working to get quicker. Should he maintain that same brute strength while becoming a more athletic and agile big man, then Jones has the potential to develop into a serious PO5-level prospect. In fact, Jones has already visited schools like Georgia and Georgia Tech. While he doesn’t hold any offers at the moment, he is definitely someone who is on the radar and is destined to have a big season in 2022.
TE – Luke Logan – 2023 – 6’5 – Lambert
At 6’5 with speed, Logan is automatically a prospect that draws some eyes. In fact, he has fielded some offers from schools like UT-Martin, Troy, Georgia Southern, and some others. Last season, Logan was a key part of the Lambert offense, catching 13 passes for 214 yards and 4 TDs. With a few senior pass-catchers graduating, Logan has the chance to produce at his highest level yet. On film, you will instantly see how athletically gifted Logan is. His speed and athleticism from the TE spot make him a matchup nightmare for LBs and smaller DBs. On film, you can even see Logan split out wide and make plays from the receiver spot, where he shows some promise as a route runner. As you could expect, a player at his size is a big-time red-zone threat. You can see him rise up over defenders on 50/50 balls to make highly contested catches. Logan possesses traits that could make him an elite TE at the next level, and he will finally get a chance to show off his entire arsenal as a senior.
