Continue ReadingWe’re looking at the 2025 class and some recruits who have really high upside. These guys are young and developing but can offer a lot long-term and this is our first look at them and everything they can do. Over the next few years, the class should only get deeper and deeper.
Mark Zackery – Ben Davis – DB – 6’0″ 155lbs
Zackery saw the field a ton as a Freshman and is arguably a D1 player already. Some people are just different. Zackery is no different and when he steps on the field he’s able to unleash a special animal. He’s a fantastic athlete with fluid hips and can run with anyone who steps on the field. He moves all over the field for Ben Davis and became an eraser. He’s got good ball skills and is able to track the ball and make some pretty impressive picks. If not, he’ll get his hands on the ball. For his age, he’s well built and is only going to get thicker. For being a lighter DB as of now, he can still pack a punch and make his presence felt. He’s a very instinctive player and always seems like he’s half a step ahead of the offense. There are times he can struggle in press coverage against a bigger receiver but he always holds his own and is always scrapping against him. I think he only has those issues because he’s still a bit lighter. As the weight and muscle come, that’ll disappear. Also, his footwork and mechanics are fairly good, especially for his age. He works. You can tell. There’s a reason he stepped on the field and day 1 started flying around making plays. Zackery is just beginning to scratch the surface of how good he can be. He’s a freaky athlete who is going to be 1 of the most highly sought-after recruits in the state. As of yesterday, I’ve seen offers from Vanderbilt, Central Michigan, and Ball State. He’s a freshman and he’s already that dude. How far he goes is up to him but I can’t imagine he’s got a ceiling that I can see with my telescope any time soon. Keep your eyes on him because there’s a good chance he’ll be making plays on Saturdays on your local TV.
Ralph Rogers Ralph Rogers 6'0" | 190 lbs | LB Bloomington South | 2024 State IN – Bloomington South – LB – 6’0″ 190lbs
Rogers is an explosive athlete who is really starting to find his groove on the field. His confidence over the season grew so much and you could really tell. The speed he was playing with towards the end of the season was noticeably quicker than towards the beginning of the year. He’s a physical player who is best around the LOS and is able to make a lot of things happen for his team. When he comes down and off the edge, he’s able to get home more often than not. He’s athletic and flexible enough to bend around the corner if he has to. He understands leverage and how to use his body to get past the guy in front of him. In the running game, he’s able to come downhill, fill his gap, and make the play time and time again. His form is alright but could use some improvement. As of now, Rogers is also a bit light for LB but he’s got a frame that could easily bulk up to 220lbs and become a problem. Whether it’s over the next few years or once he gets into college, he’s going to be a nice compact build and will be able to have his full force follow his frame into tackles. I didn’t see much of his dropping back into coverage but from what I did see, he’s got the athleticism you’d expect and he’s able to run with pretty much everyone and isn’t stiff, but his mechanics will likely need some grooming over the next few years. Rogers is also that high motor player who won’t count himself out of any down and will run downfield 30-yards to make the tackle if he has to. There’s a lot to like with what Rogers can offer now and later. If he’s able to develop and continue on the arrow he is, I’d expect him to have his choice of offers to pick from.
Noah Boutsomsy Noah Boutsomsy 5'5" | 155 lbs | ATH St Joseph | 2025 State IN – Penn – RB/DB/KR – 5’2″ 145lbs
Boutsomsy is a really good athlete who has moved all over the field for Penn because of the versatility he offers. He’s got great speed, fantastic agility, and is able to make guys miss in the open field rather easily. He doesn’t have much issue changing direction or losing much speed when he has to stick his foot in the ground. In short, he’s able to do more than just straight-line track speed. Boutsomsy can play S, RB, and return kicks all in the same game. I will say, at each position, I think he’s a bit raw mechanically and fundamentally but has plenty of time to finite his craft during his High School career. I will also say he’s a bit shorter and lighter than you like but has 3+ years to continue developing physically so there’s not much to be concerned in my opinion. I feel as of now, Boutsomsy is best on defense and returning kicks. He’s got good instincts and is able to shoot gaps and make tackles. The speed he’s got gives him the ability to get the corner and angle more often than not and make the play. It helps him return kicks and he’s got decent enough vision to stress out opposing special teams. Boutsomsy is going to be a fun player to watch develop over the next few years. His speed, versatility, and KR history only makes him much more intriguing as he begins the recruitment campaign.
Alijah Price Alijah Price 5'7" | 165 lbs | RB Ben Davis | 2025 State IN – Ben Davis – RB – 5’6″ 160lbs
Price is an explosive athlete that Ben Davis gives the ball and gets rewarded with big rips and runs on the regular. Price is fast with the ability to reach top-end speed almost immediately. He’s best in a straight line but has no issue changing direction or making guys miss if he needs to. He’s someone who makes the most of his opportunities and when he steps on the field is going to give every ounce he’s got because he wants the ball again. Ben Davis is a loaded program and to compete for reps as a Freshman and make plays on the big stage is only a good sign of things to come. Ben Davis is rewarded with their football intelligence year after year and Price is going to be no different. He’s incredibly tough, physical, and is a willing blocker when he doesn’t get the ball. He just wants to be on the field so he’s going to make his pass blocking reps noticeable, at least to me. I do think right now he’s a bit lighter than I’d like to see and can be brought down a bit easier than I’m sure he’d like as well but typically that improves as you bulk up and work on contact balance. Price works hard so that’s not an issue or concern to me. Price has pretty good vision and is able to find some cutback lanes that some backs wouldn’t see. He’s got no issue getting small and lowering his pads when he needs to. If Price is able to develop over the next few years while keeping that homerun-hitting speed, the offers will come abundantly.
Antonio McGee Antonio McGee 5'8" | 185 lbs | LB Ben Davis | 2025 State IN – Ben Davis – LB – 5’8″ 185lbs
McGee rounds out the Ben Davis crew but he’s on this list for a good reason. Good things happen when he’s on the field. McGee always seems to find his way around the ball and is the kind of guy who is always right there to make a play. Whether it’s forcing a fumble, making a hit stick type tackle, or breaking up a pass he’s able to get the job done. He’s a very gritty player who has no issue sticking his nose into the thick of things to make the play. Over the past year, he’s developed nicely physically. He’s grown about 2 inches and put on 15lbs and it’s likely this is just the beginning. In a perfect world, when he graduates he’s 6’0″+ and 210lbs+ but he has plenty of time. Once he gets his hands on the ball carrier they’re going to end up on the ground. It’s not always the prettiest form but he gets the job done and is actively improving in his mechanics and fundamentals. With McGee, he doesn’t make mistakes very often and is always where he needs to be when he’s supposed to be. Pass coverage in both man and zone coverages are a work in progress but he’s young and capable. McGee is a fluid athlete who does a lot of things well naturally and seems like he’s a fast learner. His upside and talent is enough to draw interest the way it is. However, if McGee is able to continue developing over the next few years I’d expect a plethora of offers to come his way when things are all said and done.
