When we added 16 names to our Class of 2025 rankings, we didn’t do so lightly.
After all, there’s only so much a rising sophomore can do in the offseason, right?
Thanks to situations both in and out of these players’ control, they’ve earned a spot in the coveted rankings so early on in their respective careers. From quarterbacks taking over with favorable conditions to kids crushing the camp circuit, we see high ceilings in all of them.
After all, the overall Class of 2025 is still recognizing fewer than 50 players.
We’d like to welcome these 16 to the list.
[player_tooltip player_id="285449" first="Kyle" last="Baldwin"], WR, Oceanside Collegiate
In some ways, Baldwin will be one of the biggest attrition holdovers from an Oceanside squad that has some considerable movement this offseason.
[player_tooltip player_id="346200" first="Rocky" last="Herd"], OL, Daniel
While, admittedly, most of our highly ranked linemen are tackles, Herd will be a consistent force on the interior for the next three years.
[player_tooltip player_id="346199" first="Landon" last="Sharpe"], QB, White Knoll
Sharpe mixes an above average deep ball with an ability to throw on the run. It’s why he took over the position midway through his freshman season.
[player_tooltip player_id="346198" first="Bryce" last="Rainwater"], OL, Hillcrest
Hillcrest is one of those big-school teams to watch next fall, and the 6-foot-3, 265-pound lineman emergence along the line is another reason to follow along for the ride.
[player_tooltip player_id="346197" first="Jameson" last="Wilson"], ATH, Westside
In four games last year, the son of the Rams offensive line coach was in on 11 tackles, returned a couple kicks and caught a pair of passes.
[player_tooltip player_id="346196" first="Jamarion" last="Fling"], RB, Dillon
Fling doesn’t have much varsity experience to his name, but that’ll change in a hurry this fall. Fling could be one of the top sophomore ball carriers in South Carolina.
[player_tooltip player_id="346195" first="Alex" last="Myers"], QB, Blythewood
Myers is shaping up to be one heck of a baseball prospect, too. Chances are, he’ll lock in some football interest sooner rather than later, too.
[player_tooltip player_id="346194" first="Jack" last="Stevens"], K, North Augusta
The next Stevens kicker is already locked in from inside 45 yards and will be expected to contribute on his first year on the varsity roster.
[player_tooltip player_id="150043" first="Brett" last="Young"], LB, Clinton
An edge rusher with the tenacity of a middle linebacker, Young’s a defensive stats monster who seals off whatever space he’s in at the snap.
[player_tooltip player_id="346193" first="Zeke" last="Curry"], DB Westside
At a legit 6-foot-3 and still growing, there’s no telling where Curry ends up in the long run. For now, he’s a long defensive back capable of high-pointing any pass.
[player_tooltip player_id="346192" first="Jackson" last="Garstka"], K/P, North Myrtle Beach
The kicking advisors we talked to all pointed to Garstka as both the top kicker and the top punter in the class. He’s got range and will be a threat.
[player_tooltip player_id="346191" first="Calvin" last="Choice"], WR, Spartanburg
The coaching staff says Choice has the skills as a freshman that only future DI players before him possessed at that age. Watching his cuts, we have no arguments.
[player_tooltip player_id="346190" first="Bryce" last="Lawhon"], OL, Ashley Ridge
Colleges have already taken an interest in the 6-foot-7, 320-pound mauler. His ceiling is way, way up there - and growing by the month.
[player_tooltip player_id="276660" first="Christian" last="Henderson"], DB, Greenville
Henderson is just 5-foot-8, but his production is without question. Before transferring from Southside Christian, he had four picks and five pass break-ups as a freshman.
[player_tooltip player_id="346189" first="Cutter" last="Woods"], QB, Westside
Woods has a bunch of camp invites, but his biggest news of the offseason - outside his transfer from Eastside - was his first FBS offer, from Miami of Ohio.
[player_tooltip player_id="346188" first="Dekontee" last="Mack"], DL, Westwood
At 6-foot-4 and 220 pounds, Mack is "as strong as an ox", according to his coaches. We saw that during one of his rare varsity games last year. Take a look for yourself.
