The best 2023 prospects that the state of South Carolina has to offer were on full display in Saturday’s Palmetto Combine Showcase in the Midlands at River Bluff High on the west side of Columbia, S.C.
There were five quarterbacks on hand for the 2023 class and we had a chance to see each one up close. Here are a few of our observations:
Colson Brown | North Augusta
Brown was impressive in the L-Cone Drill as he finished his runs well. In the 40-yard dash, he showed the ability to power through the sprint. He looked impressive during the individual drills in making the throws and getting it to his receivers.
TJ McElmurray | Midland Valley
McElmurray displayed good pocket presence in the individual period. He possesses the size for the position and keeps his eyes downfield. He can get his body squared up and has a nice spiral on his throws.
[player_tooltip player_id="262574" first="Bennett" last="Judy"] | Hillcrest (pictured above)
Judy showed good agility and lateral movement early in the day during the L-Cone Drill. Later in the individual period, he displayed his arm strength as he can fire it in the hole and throw strikes. He anticipates and escapes pressure well.
Tyler McManus | Lamar
McManus is deceptively quick through the line, as we saw in his 40-yard dash run. He caught our eye during the individual period with his ability to escape the pocket and make plays on the run. He made a great spin to avoid pressure.
James Rawl | Laurens
Rawl moved around in the pocket well and is one of those guys that can be tough to bring down when you look at him up close.
